Wanting Android Tablet

Post by RCer »

Okay folks, its time for a new toy.

I'm wanting an Android Tablet. I don't need phone capabilities, but I do need great game playing and internet.

Typically I look at things like Asus or Samsung, but there's got to be quality out there and not these expensive brands.

Suggestions?

Good quality tablets are available from brands such as Huawei, Lenovo, Xiaomi. They're not necessarily cheap though, but might be worth a look and checking a few reviews. There are a lot of dual boot win 10 and Android tabs around as well, especially in the cheaper 8" Chinese segment, and mostly with Intel CPUs. Would think 10" and up screen would be better for games.

Internet is no problem, but if you're gaming you'll need good battery performance for decent screen on time, as well as the more obvious screen, CPU and GPU performance. Sorry I can't recommend anything specific. Good luck.

I recently bought an Asus 2 in 1 Transformer from Banana IT Market Village. It doubles as a Tablet and Laptop. Very pleased with it thus far.

I have one of those too. Love it. But to big to hold up and play when laying down. Great for normal use.

I'd be careful buying a generic Chinese-branded tablet or phone these days. A lot of the manufacturers are putting spy-ware into the built-in roms, and some even start popping up adverts after a few months of use. Said devices are usually unrootable, to prevent you getting around these issues.

:agree: Have dealt with a couple of these recently, they are effectively porn filled bricks once the pre-loaded malware kicks in.

^^ Not recommending any such thing. However there are quite well respected Chinese branded phones and tablets which don't come with pornware or spyware (other than the usual Google stuff). Some are actually available in Thailand now, having been available elsewhere for years.

Any malware is generally added somewhere down the line by unscrupulous dealers and it's not only a problem with the Chinese brands, Samsung or any Android device is susceptible. Apparently the IOS system has much better safeguards in place.

There's malware that you get tricked into installing which you may end up installing on a Samsung device, and there's malware that comes pre-loaded by Chinese firms, which is something totally different.

Are you saying that Asus and Lenovo are pre-loading malware?

That would be my choice also, as have a few ASUS products, and standing the test of time... :thumb:

If referring to ASUS, I personally wouldn't won't windows on it. Simply pick a model that comes with Android.
