ADVERTORIAL

Naab Thong Restaurant
Situated at the top of soi 88 ,in the charming village of Nong Pran Puk, Naab Thong has long been popular with the Thai residents of Tubthai and surrounding districts. Over the last couple of years we have attracted an ever increasing number of expatriates who are looking for real Thai food in a real Thai restaurant in scenic and peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle of town. 5 minutes by car or bike and you will think you are in a different country, the real Thailand.

Our policies are simple. We aim to provide good food, good service and good value. On popular request we have added a few western items to our menu such as English and American breakfasts and a few specials but remain for the main a traditional Thai restaurant serving Thai food the way our grandmothers prepared it using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. You will find all of the dishes you are familiar with and some you may not have tried before.

Don’t worry if your Thai is not great, our menus have A4 size pictures and descriptions of each dish.

On our menu you will find a selection of individual dishes from 20-40 Baht. And larger dishes to share amongst a group which is a very usual and social way of dining here for 50-70 Baht.

We have recently added a cocktail and juice bar where you can get drinks blended by a bartender with 15 years of experience in 5 star hotels and nightclubs. Beer and wine are of course always available also.

We also do outside catering on request.

To find us simply head up soi 88 roughly 5km from the railway crossing and we are the restaurant with the blue roof by the lake a couple of hundred meters past Avenue 88 executive. Coming from the other way we are a little bit past the turning for the Siam Old Teak. If you get lost give us a call.

Chef/owner Joy and Bee look forward to welcoming you for a great selection of food and maybe a few cocktails whilst you watch the sunset over the mountains.

Nice relaxing place. I went with the missus last week for only the 2nd time although I can't remember what food we had (as the missus normally orders for us both)!

However, 2 things stuck out for me; the lady owner (I presume) asked my missus where she was from as she thought she did not live in HH (she does) and she said she remembered us coming on my last visit in April and even pointed out where we sat !

During our visit I said to the missus "listen, can you hear that?" and she replied "No, I can't hear anything". Exactly I said, no motorbikes, no construction just peace & quiet and lots of greenery, a nice place to chill. :rasta:

Unfortunately the cocktail 'maker' was away so no cocktails that day so an extra bottle of Singha instead

Wonderful place, and great food, service, pricing. The missus and I can go there and have a meal (even with my beers) for 300 baht! Well worth a visit... one of our favorite places since our first time there! :thumb:

And fancy mixed drinks like good Long Island Iced Tea, Margaretas, or Pina Coladas at the best prices I've seen locally.

Map of the exact location would be fine as NTR is not on the HHAD map.

GPS co-ordinates anybody? I'll be trying to cut across from Chomsin Road (Soi 70).

Google earth is

12 32 56 47 N

99 54 18 41 E

The map we just looked at must be 6 years old at least however so does not show us or the landmarks we mentioned. Will post some pictures of the area. Coming from soi 70 to 88 along the railway line cross the line and take an immediate right followed by a left bend and you are heading up soi 88. If you get lost just give us a ring and we will guide you in :thumb:

Railway crossing in soi 88. turn immediate right

Bend to the left after about 70m then head straight on up with shops and guesthouses on either side for the first 2km or so.

the new government buildings will appear on your left keep going round a couple of bends

Now you can see the countryside

Straight on at this point past the red roofed boxing camp, lots of pineapples and a few houses for about 500m.

Here we are on the right with wok and cocktail shaker at the ready.

I watched a young Thai boy fishing there while we ate lunch last week. Saw him have to bait his hook a few times as the fish stole his bait but he didn't catch anything while we were there. Someone threw a loaf of pieced bread into the pond and the fish, from fingerlings to 50 cm length devoured it. Good lunchtime entertainment!

Pity closes at 8pm, I assume it is more of a lunch destination?

I think they will stay open as long as they have customers, but it's kind of isolated so that the best time to go is actually either lunch or just before sunset is a really nice time. Unless you live out there there is not much point in being there late at night.
