I can not believe that a subject so banal as the locations world wide of a Mickey Mouse second rate chain of bread product retailers has generated so much response.

Next you will all be getting all worked up about the latest McKee or Funking Gonuts outlet.

Just to clarify for the uneducated out there and to save Chelsea wasting time informing everybody.

Thailand has girls.
Thailand has beaches.
Thailand has sun.
Thailand has hot weather.
Thailand has many western sub-standard eating outlets.
Thailand has a transport infrastructure.
Thailand has a communications infrastructure.

My advice is stay clear of all of them. They are all bad for you health.

The reason

Post by Pagey »

My fault - I started this thread but didn't explain why so here goes :

In my earlier postings I have asked about living and working in Hua Hin and also mentioned I have looked at franchise outlets as an option for me to get to Hua Hin a.s.a.p.

Subways do franchise outlets so my interest was on the business side - ie location (for a franchise you generally have to find the location yourself) and is it/will it be successful as I presume its aimed at the expat/tourist market as I don't think Thais eat sandwiches (unless they do a rice one!).

From the advice given earlier from you chaps though the best option seems to be keep your money in the bank or property.

N.B. if you do like sandwiches as a change from rice then there is a deli that does warm baguettes with a variety of fillings and they serve beer also! can't remember its name or exact location (not far from night market) but they also have a smaller one on the Soi leading to the Grand Hotel. I think the shop sign is something to do with accommodation.

Has that helped ?

No in fact nothing much has changed for one thousand years. We are not at war with Burma and Cambodia any more and there are a lot more trucks and motorcycles on the roads.

The only diference now is that when you get pissed and cross the road you are much more likely to be run over by a truck than a buffalo.

Oh BTW 5 baht does not get so much these days. I can remember when you could get two women, a packet of cigarattes, a shower and a bottle of whisky and still get change from a five Baht note.

Subway

Post by canthai »

During my research into possible business opportunities in Thailand I checked with Subway International regarding a Subway franchise for Hua Hin. Subway International told me that they have already sold one franchise for HUa Hin however they felt that a second franchise would work as well.

Lets only hope that the sell them at the same prices as they do here in Australia (equiviliant of about 250 baht upwards) , price themselves out of the market and all go bust.
