Places to eat around the Pranburi/Khao Tao areas.

Restaurants, food, beverage, hawkers, and local markets and suppliers. This is the place for discussion on Hua Hin's culinary options.

Places to eat around the Pranburi/Khao Tao areas.

Post by alleykat »

We have found ourselves renting a nice place near Pranburi for a few weeks, not far from the junction with the bypass. Was wondering if any members could advise of any suitable family type places around here to go and eat that have Thai and European menus? Something along the lines of Khun Oy or 94 restaurants in Hua Hin would be good, or even the names of any Thai menu only places that you've been to and recommend. Not looking for high end places, just medium price ranges

Also are there any good takeaway places in the area, Indian perhaps?

Any suggestions welcome.

This place is well worth a try http://www.huahinmedia.com/mangoresort.php . If you click the website from the link, you will get to the menu, which is reasonably priced. We've eaten there a few times, and never been disappointed. You've just missed one of their theme Indian evenings, which are a bit special. I assume the next theme evening will be Saturday week.

They will be doing a Sunday lunch at 2pm this week - well worth the effort.

There is a Thai restaurant that is on the Pranburi River. As you go from town to the ocean (by Tesco) just before you go over the Pranburi Bridge there is a restaurant along the river down on your right side. Drive down and park and take any sala you want that is along the river. We always found the food good and reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere along the river. Get to watch some fisherman go by now and then.

Also does anyone know of any places in this area that do a farang type breakfast, or a close imitation?

Mango that I mentioned above offers this:
Big Breakfast (2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs, baked beans, black/white pudding, mushrooms, tomato, hash brown, toast & butter, orange juice, tea/coffee)
I've never tried their breakfast, but it sounds good. There are smaller variations on the menu also.

Richard's place, The Hideway, knocks out great food in a beautiful bucolic backdrop. I don't have the address and I won't risk trying to post directions as I would only get you hideously lost with my zilcho navigational skills, but if you like good Thai food, good pizza and good music then you're not far from his place and should give it a go. Maybe Google it?

Is it in a resort?

Dolphin Bay located just 20 kilometres or so from Tesco Lotus in Pranburi is well worth a visit with a number of good eating places including the Dolphin Bay Resort and Al Frescos restaurant as well as many others.

Nice Thai restaurant called Hua Pleng behind Pranburi hospital and another between Tesco and hospital on left side (if heading toward hospital), but forgot the name (Krua something), on a corner with lots of salas outside.
Best farang breakfast I know of is at Beach House on Pak Nam Pran beach.
