Khao Takiab for Lunch
Khao Takiab for Lunch
My wife and I will be in the vicinity of Khao Takiab this Friday and were thinking about lunch. We're not at all familiar with the area. Seafood on the water would be nice, but we're not much interested in lounge chairs on the sand and would prefer a proper restaurant. Based on looking at Foursquare, there seem to be zillions.

My favourite restaurant in the entire Hua Hin area is La Mer. It is located on the hillside slightly above the sea, and you can see the coastline to Cha-Am and beyond. If you like seafood, they have a very comprehensive menu, which is reasonably priced for its unique location.
Having said the above, my preference is to arrive just before sunset to watch the sun go down, and the lights come on. If you're really lucky, there will be an electrical storm out to sea, giving that extra light show.

Agree with BB La Mer has a lovely location, and great seafood, but better at night.
Supatra by the Sea is also very good, directly adjacent to the beach, looking at Khao Takiab hill and the holden buddha, a little pricey for Takiab, but excellent seafood.
There are soo many good seafood restaurants next to the beach, you need to allow an hour to drive around and select a venue which suits.
1 of my personal favourites is Rimtarn, which is a restaurant in the shape of a boat, great seafood, overlooking Khao Takiab.

I like Anantasila. It's a hotel situated next to the beach but they welcome outside guests to the restaurant. I think both the food and the surroundings are great and the prices are reasonable.
Re: Khao Takiab for Lunch
Anantasila is nice and for the location the prices are indeed reasonable. Unfortunately it's located pretty close to the construction area and that puts a bit of a dampener on the normal tranquillity of the experience.

The new ferry terminal? I have read about that but not seen it yet. Is the impact on Kaho Takiab beech life severe? In a couple of weeks I plan to visit the area so I guess i will find out then.Pleng wrote:It's located pretty close to the construction area and that puts a bit of a dampener on the normal tranquillity of the experience.

Re: Khao Takiab for Lunch
For lunch I would second the opinion of SydneyGuy. Supatra by the Sea is an excellent restaurant with seating just above the beach. Nice ocean and beach view as well as Takiab mountain, easy parking, good seafood (not cheap), and good service.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Khao Takiab for Lunch
Thanks for the many suggestions. Some day we may be able to hit them all.

sea harmony eco cafe is without doubt the best restaurant in Khao Takiab if not Hua Hin
Re: Khao Takiab for Lunch
Don't remember much seafood on the menu there, and it's certainly not by the sea.
It's a nice place, lovely decor and interesting menu. Staff are friendly. Annoying dog, as with a lot of restaurants around here. I certainly wouldn't call it "without a doubt the best restaurant" - seems quite a strange claim to make about anywhere, really. They lost a few points from me for am unannounced mayonnaise invasion on my pork spring rolls.

Drive south on Khao Takiab road (baring right at the temple) as far as you can go . Turn left at the end T junction to the beach. Approx 150 m at the bottom of the road on the left facing the beach is Sopa Sea Food Restaurant. Enjoy. Approx 350 Baht a head without drinks. We go alot.

Re: Khao Takiab for Lunch
The food was quite good. We had Hoy Joh and Yam Pla Meuk. The squid was very fresh. The service was quick. It's a very nice place to sit and enjoy the sea and ocean breeze.
