Shiva Indian is very good, and I see there's a Vegan restaurant at the entrance to the old shopping mall.

The Vegan restaurant is very good. My sister and her husband are both vegans and we ate there twice back in January, when they were here. I have been meaning to do a review of it in case it was of interest to anyone else, so I will add that tomorrow now.

I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but would happily eat there again.

At the crossroad near the day market in town where the Baht buses leave, great food to eat in or take away at 25 baht per dish. Been eating there for 15 years and always tasted great. Once found a Caterpillar in my krapow though.

I always think that finding bugs and grubs in the veg is a good sign that pesticides have not been used. Better than finding a finger in your MacDonalds!

Kind of cancels the vegan aspect

Ask for the other half.

There's also a vege counter in BluPort. & Passport in Smorprong; easily the best of the lot.

Am I missing something here? Since when krapow a vegan dish? Even if the meat is replaced with soy, I still can't see how you could really create a vegan form of krapow since you need to use nam-pla, and most importantly, you need to use oyster sauce.

what you are missing is that he did not say “vegan”
the thread’s title is “vegetarian restaurants”
most vegiteribles do eat chicken and fish

Bit of an oxymoron saying most vegetarians eat Chicken! I doubt that's true.

Fish? Well one vegetarian I know does but another couple I worked with would at the most eat dairy produce such as cheese and the like, but not any actual meat.

I lived 7 years in an off grid counter culture community on the the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. Most who where there considered themselves strict vegetarians. Some for humanitarian reasons, some for health reasons.

Those who were vegetarian for humane reasons avoided all animal flesh but most did eat seafood. But those who considered themselves vegetarian for health reasons avoided all red meat but almost all did eat poultry and seafood. The vegan crowd carried their avoidances and restrictions the farthest, some did not even want any utensils used for their food if it had ever been used for any animal products. They did not want any animal DNA to pass their lips. But homo sepien DNA was OK.

For the oxymoronic aspect, saying “most vegetarians” might fall in same context as saying “most christians” whereas most who call themselves christians never go to church. The ratio might be similar. But of course there are purists in every persuasion.
