visted hh in sept. and a few observations. lived there for 2 years and was happy to find old huants still alive. 1, kiddy-corner from video store the one next to family mart is my favorite thai joint. price for thais, food great. 2, down street from bkk bus station, opposite discount booze store, is nice inexpensive thai resturant. menu large, food the bomb. 3, kiddy corner from lucky lukes on bidabon, in back of temple are a string of resturants. small and mostly the same except for one. boodie's, i think is name. cook is from hilton and very good. service a plus. also went to dusit for sunday brunch. was the best buy in hh, no more. food still excellent but price went up 40%. in fact most of farange places went way up in price. stick to thai out of the way resturants if you want to be happy for the rest of your life.

Hey, I know some of those places and agree that's very little to beat them.
Unless, you have a big kitchen back home. Nothing like getting back there after a few beers during the afternoon and cooking up a big munch. Can't necessarily do it cheaper than those restautants, but I can mess around on the computer, read a book, look at tv and drink beer at a fraction of the cost of the bars. Plus, I very rarely go out afterwards.
Call me a cheap charlie, but it suits me, my missus and the bank manager.
