Aussie Talk

Post by oakdale160 »

keyboard warrior: a person who adopts an excessively aggressive style in online discussions which they would not normally adopt in person-to-person communication, often in support of a cause, theory, world view, etc.

This isa new 2015 addition to a well known Aussie Dictionary. I think we all know this type of posting.
I think I may have been guilty of it myself.

G'day,

this thread seems to have died like my ill-fated music thread.
Wonder if I can revive it.

I have finally ditched my illusional dream of ever learning Japanese, in this life anyway!
It's a 24/7 enterprise. No more time for Facebook or anything else.
Also you have to live in Japan for some time and/or should be married to a Japanese.

Instead, I hope to learn some Thai, and concentrate on improving my strine.
As a non-ozzy you do have to learn Aussie slang.
Not even a genius like Einstein could guess that "the dogs are barking" can also
mean "my feet are sore, hurting or tired". :o

Hope to have drawn the attention of some ockers to this thread. :)

Oorah, :D

For Londoners (Cockneys), feet are not Dogs but plates. Cockney Rhyming Slang.... Feet = Plates of Meat.

My plates 'urt

I'm sure one of our Aussie members will have the answer for dogs barking

Bristolian, :)

Straight from one of several Aussie slang dictionaries!
Not sure if I have managed to lure the Aussies on the Forum out of their "hide-outs"! :?

Have a nice day & weekend.

G'day, :)

No ockers in Thailand? :o

I doubt it! Perhaps they are too lazy or just don't fancy teaching
foreigners their secret lingo? :?

So I'll have to post some info for interested forum members: :thumb:

G'day "mates",

I used to think the Brits and Ozzies had one laudable ability in common,
namely to take the piss out of themselves. :neener:

Obviously there are always bound to be exceptions to the rule! :o

So I have decided to restore this moribund thread to its former state
of suspended animation

Good afternoon, :)

changed my mind mates!

Had forgotten quitting is NOT an Aussie trait.
I am sure a large majority of Aussies have preserved a sense of humour. :thumb:

She'll be apples mate. Avoid dong your block. You have Buckley's chance, you have to give them a fair go, they're all on the beach, gone up the Mulgaor, or avoiding the dogs
Good on ya for give'n it a burl.
