New Camper Van

Post by Stargeezer »

I bought my new camper van. It is a FORD ,350 Transit wagon, that I should have bought
with privacy glass, with only 2 seats instead of the 12 seats the factory said I had to get, and
I guess I should have bought a cargo van with only the 2 front seats, and windows in the
side and rear doors. Oh well, I put in a Futon bed in the rear of the van and when I take out the 2nd row seats
I can put in my camper unit, of Cabinet/ closet, and biffy. I am getting sun shades made to fit all of
the side and rear windows. Do not buy this color of van unless you want a very hot vehicle in the
Summer. The color is called Lunar Sky, but is really just a brown tan. Silver or white is a much better
choice for a vehicle this large. The gas mileage is quite good wit a 3.7L V6 engine, 6 speed auto transmission
and it comes with a trailer hitch for towing a decent sized trailer or boat. I tried owning a motorhome
but it had so many complications that I am glad I went back to a rough camper, that does not have
Furnace, fridge, toilet and shower, and power plant that quit working. Batteries that were dead, and
a water system that leaked as well as leaky tanks.
Oh Camping in Canada, there's no retired life like it.

I suspect you'll end up enjoying those windows... you can geeze at the stars while lying in bed...
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Why don't you add some custom made blackout curtains. I had mine made by VW custom curtain maker and I love them ads a little personal touch to my little Mazda Bongo.

I used to camp in my Mini Honda van, but now with the Futon Bed, I can camp without having
to take out seats, and put them back in every time I was not camping. I may improve the
camping aspect by only keeping the 2 front seats in and making a cabinet, and mini kitchen area ahead of the
bed. Kendo, it looks like your van is cozy as well. I hope to spend many nights camping in the future, and
now that I am in my 60s, I thought that I would just do it in more comfort than in the past.

In 2017 I may upkgrade my van with a new paint job, Silver, privacy glass
sim 3 system for a nicer stereo, radio and back up camera. as well as
remote starter, so I can get my lazy butt out of bed in the comfort of
a warm interior.
