After that------The civil war?

I am particularly worried because my daughters are here on holiday and plan to fly out on the 19th

Think positive and hope for the best Richard. That's all we can do.

seems pretty cut and dry to me -

protesters protest - sometimes it gets rowdy

terrorists set off bombs, shoot off guns, and make demands that cannot be met.

hmmmmmmm

Ah yes, I forgot.... this is Thailand. Heres a quote from the Post: "after a remarkably violence-free month-long protest" .... violence free by Afghani standards perhaps.....

And as expected, true to form, the auld enemy has been wheeled out... Ladeees and Gentlemen I give you (drum roll)....

This is one of the best independent reports I've seen on yesterdays trouble in Bangkok.

Although the title of these videos is misleading - 'Thai Army Opens Fire on Red Protesters in Bangkok 2010'. He actually can't conclude who opened fire first.

Part 3 is his personal summary of the events on the ground, quite a few truths in there.

Watching the BBC news at the moment. Just interviewed a guy in hospital hit by a rubber bullet in the eye and leg. The reporter then asked the Doctor in the hospital whether any of those hit by live rounds had survived? He answered 'no'.

What the Thai authorities can't overcome is the fact that they can censor traditional media (all quiet) but not the fast moving modern stuff and that will be what is being reported on the street.

Some of the stuff already on the 'net is amazing and frightening.

I watched a couple of news channels last night, one French and Al Jazeira, and they showed pretty much mayhem with uncontrolled shots and explosions being fired in both directions.
What is clear is that some 20 people died to acheive absolutely nothing.

These types of guns are not used by Thai Military.

They must have bought these to the rally...

Saw on the early morning news photos of that mysterious group of guys who appeared dressed in full combat gear and carring M79 grenade launchers and one photo taken of the huge muzzle flash as one was being fired.Neither side in the confrontation seems to be claiming them as being theirs and the newsreader refered to them as "this third party".
In a close up shot of one of these both the mrs and self said he was more a farang than a Thai .Paid mercinaries or what???

At least one web site is alleging that there is a British involvement...

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

hhfarang,

With Russian assault rifles, Cambodians could be involved.

They look like Thais, as long as they dont speak and are dressed in red shirts, who would know?

The link of the image had a guy clearly holding an AK Russian/Soviet Assualt Rifle.

If the Government dissolves now it is the worst thing possible for Thailand!
