I don't think we are talking about land ownership but lease or rental. Whoever you are you can own something, lease it out, agree to sub-leasing and so on. Correct me if I'm wrong please. I think Pagey is talking about a rental agreement through the Tessaban. I assume the Tessaban has the permission of the owner of the land to manage the leasing and renting of the land.

I do have proof which is why I have said on an open forum the 22 plots in front of the Hilton are legitimate traders.

I gave you a clue when I quoted the exact date of the agreement. I am not going to post my personal legal documents on a forum just because you don't want to believe it.

As I said, if you are that concerned then ask at the Tessabahn if you want proof.

Then Harry you can come back and post on here how wrong you were and apologise for being so rude to me.

Pretty much spot on Richard. In this case we are not talking about the 'owner' of the land per se, but the beach area which I guess the Tessabahn have some rights to grant certain licences as they do for the horse riders as well as some beach vendors. :thumb:

Edit : Before another argument starts the horse riders all have to pay for a licence to work on the beach although I would ban them if I could. :cuss:

I'm guessing that what centermid7 is trying to say is along the lines of this...

While they may have a permit issued by the Tessabahn, he believes that the Tessabahn has no right to be issuing such permits in the first place.

If that's true or not I don't know, but if it is, then while they may have a permit to be there, it really doesn't give them the right to be there, because the permit is worthless.

I could be wrong, but I think that's the argument.

I prefer to stay away from these type of discussions, but the above is exactly my understanding also. What we do not know is "who" may be involved before the Tessabahn.

OK, Pleng & Nereus, I didn't see it that way but I see your point.

The original statement was something like move the 'illegal' vendors who don't have permission from anybody, regardless if that permission was granted erroneously to others so I saw them as being exempt as they have a licence.

If Centermid meant that then he could have explained it like you two instead of being rude. :thumb:

I've just returned from one of my regular walks on the Hua Hin beach and it looks as though everything is back to normal regarding sunbeds/chairs with the 3 or 4 smaller traders South of the Hilton back in business, including Richard I'm happy to say.

I spoke to Richard and the only differences are he cannot erect a hut and he has to close on Wednesdays.

He is a very friendly, very hard working Thai with a young family to support. He mostly works on his own all day every day although some Thai partners of his many regular expats sometimes help him out and he's probably the cheapest on the beach, 50 Baht for a small Leo. I've been using his bar for 10 years and I hope he is trading there for another 10.

Go down the soi directly opposite Market Village with the White Villa Hotel (I think that's the name) on the corner and it's immediately on your left when u go down the steps to the beach.

Been there many times, but not since last year. I remember it's location a little different. From southbound Petchkasem, turn left on the soi 67* which is the southern boundary of the former Marriott property, then follow to the beach.

* It's 67 on Bing maps, unnamed on Google maps.

No, Soi 67 brings you out at Chan Saweng and Verandah. It's Soi 71, I'm pretty sure. Richard walks up the Soi to play tennis at Baan Rajdamnern.

Is soi 67 adjacent to the southern boundary of the Marriott property?

Yes. I went to Chan Sawang for a drink and lunch last week by walking down Soi 67 and I noticed through the open land to the left you could see the works going on at Marriott. Chan Saweng is on the left, Verandah on the right, Richards is further South.

I'm headed over to Thailand next week and will spend a week in HH. I've been there before, but need a current status report. Lots of drama, so here are my questions:
1. Can I still get a beach lounge, a beer, and food?
2. Do the horses still crap on the beach?
3. What time do the bars close at night?

I know everything is subject to change. Just checking on the status this moment..
