AD did not leave Thailand because of threats from the Thais! His normal reporting generally covered foreign criminals in Thailand. He had reported widely on the Boiler Room operators in BKK/Manila and HK (same group) and that is where the threats to his children apparently came from (from his reporting) and his reason to leave Thailand quickly.
