Maybe they can get some new CCTV`s thown in with the new submarine from China?

Some time ago there were reports that a lot of the CCTV camera`s in Bangkok were just dummy boxes. I think the BMA is responsible for them, the same administrator that was running around with a stone B****a image under his arm when Bangkok was flooded in 2011.

The police haven't been idle though, they've managed to arrest a Hong Kong based journalist on weapons charges for having a bullet proof vest and helmet:

It's easy to knock the Thai police/administration, but even now and certainly only a few years ago, you would often get CCTV images in the UK where the images were not that much clearer than mud.

Exactly. :thumb:

The surprising thing is, with technologu as advanced as it is, why is the cctv imaging in many places so poor? :?

Thing that gets me is that why do Immigration take your photo and store it every time you pass through Suvarnabhumi airport if they do not have facial recogniton technology.

Far, far too easy in reality and not just for the faulty cameras and blurry images.

When I arrived at Swampy on Friday afternoon I handed my passport and arrival/departure card over to the immigration officer as normal. He marked the arrival card with a cross under the DOB and asked me to submit my Thailand telephone number. My colleague was also asked so I guess it's another check in light if the recent bombings.

"Thai bomber hunt hampered by faulty CCTV cameras"

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

caller wrote:Another bomb in Bkk, but this one safely defused:

http://news.sky.com/story/1540723/thai- ... loded-bomb

According to the article, it appears this "bomb" was simply a grenade.

The article also says that the suspect was seen leaving the scene in a tuk-tuk, and there is a picture of a guy with a yellow shirt sitting in a tuk-tuk. However, an earlier article reported that he had left on a motorcycle taxi, and there was a photo of that as well. So, was it a tuk-tuk or was it a motorcycle taxi?

I believe that they have said that he arrived in a Tuk Tuk, and left on a motorcycle.
Unless of course, you happen to be a female BBC news announcer who said, while showing video of the motorcycle, that: "in Thailand they are called Tuk Tuk`s".

They updated the report as things became clearer. Seems they came across the same in Korat as well.

15 of 20 cameras onescape route 'broken'
http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/general ... or-suspect

Most of the security cameras installed along the escape route used by the suspect in the Erawan shrine bombing were broken, which is hindering the investigation into the incident, according to the police...

National police chief Somyot Poompunmuang said Monday 15 of the 20 cameras from Ratchaprasong intersection to Silom were out of order.

The cameras are owned and maintained by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

It's just a blame game now and it's embarrassing. The whole administration is beginning to fall apart at the seams. The sticking plaster used to cover the cracks is finally falling off.
