Scumbags Pose as Good Samaritans to Rob Swedish Tourist in Hua Hin

Post by Spitfire »

It was early morning, but looks like the douchebags know no bounds. Another embarrassing tale for the country......facepalm. Just keep coming atm.

Police have arrested three men accused of robbing a Swedish woman of cash and an iPhone shortly after coming to her assistance when she fell off her motorcycle.

The trio — Kamphol Matchawong, 23, Suthep Phetthakun, 24, and a Karen man identified only as Kuhaebu, 22 — were apprehended separately in Pran Buri in Prachuap Khiri Khan and in Kaeng Krachan district of neighbouring Phetchaburi and were taken to a media briefing in Hua Hin on Saturday.

They have been charged with robbing Vanja Agren, a Swedish tourist, of 7,000 baht in cash and an iPhone in Hua Hin on the morning of May 4, said Pol Maj Gen Kritsana Jaemsawang, chief of the Prachuap Khiri Khan police.

Footage from a closed-circuit television camera near the robbery scene recorded the incident that led to the arrests.

At least it was sorted promptly (probably due to the recent past bad press)...but again, bunch of drunk scumbags, par-for-the-course now in so many places. Like the bit about how easily greed got the better of him....7k baht and a phone, doesn't take much to compromise your principles these days even if he was telling the truth....which I highly doubt.

Surprised no-one has any comments on this one....maybe it's crime report fatigue in HH/Thailand in general.

Understood. o7

I hope Ms Agren is ok, but I just ask myself why would a Swedish lady tourist be riding around Hua Hin alone at 5am, this could have ended up in a far more serious situation than just a robbery.

Possibly to get to view point or beach to watch the sunrise. It's hardly the point though. The real point is that a vunerable elderly white lady is attacked by mindless Thai thugs

I am not surprised to read that a lonely lady wanted to go to the beach to see the sunrise at 05.00 am. But why with 7,000.00 Baht cash ???????????? Unless she made this money last night and she was going back home.

What on earth does it have to do with anyone why she had 7k on her, that is $199 do you never carry that much on you?

Agree and leads to another thread by GLC. Not light-hearted, but serious in this vein. I love Thailand and many parts of Asia - certain places (or rather the people) unfortunately are going very much downhill.

It's getting a common problem worldwide - or am I just getting older?

Maybe she was going shopping later? It's not that much money!

I thought the same thing too. What a ridiculous comment to make. 7k is nothing to carry around in your wallet if its baht. For Christ sake!!!!
