Foreign pedestrian killed in road accident outside market village
Foreign pedestrian killed in road accident outside market village
Just advised that a foreigner was run over and killed by a tuk tuk this afternoon outside market village about 4pm . Perhaps someone may have some further information to confirm this.

I met two people who saw the scene as described.....many attempts to resuscitate, but not confirmed there was any success, sadly all reports made it sound like there would be very little chance of survival....bad head injury

Read the story on Facebook from the local reporter guy, it was a 48 year old male tourist from Kazakhstan crossing the road with his wife. As stated, he was struck by a tuk-tuk and unfortunately, did indeed lose his life.
There has been a few accidents there, they will have to do something about it.

Regrettably, they will not.Sabai Sabai wrote:

It's a terrible place to cross the road. I will very rarely stop to let people cross because motorcyclists will inevitably be coming down the blind side, and they WILL NOT give way to anybody.
I like the idea of the 'on-request' traffic light, but it would probably be ignored as per the Bangkok Hospital lights. Worse still, if the road gets too busy, they just switch them off.
I guess Bluport will be another megga danger when it opens. Yes, they've built a footbridge, but how many will actually use it? If I need to cross the road at Market Village, I always walk the few yards to the footbridge, but Mrs BB will just cross the road. I'm usually stood waiting for her to catch me up.

Just drove past the accident site and they are installing some type of lights at the crossing.

Let's hope there's some sort of camera system to catch those that run the lights -probably pay for itself in the first week.Geko wrote:Just drove past the accident site and they are installing some type of lights at the crossing.

oakdale160: NO..NO..No..more traffic lights are not desirable. Just a pedestrian crossing on the road and maybe a warning: LOOK ON YOUR LEFT BEFORE CROSSING. Many tourists are confused with the left hand driving.

Another accident in same spot today according to social media report
Re: foreign pedestrian killed ourside market village this afternoon
There is already a pedestrian crossing even with flashing 'pedestrian crossing' signs for approaching traffic. Didn't do this poor guy any good did it?europtimiste wrote:oakdale160: NO..NO..No..more traffic lights are not desirable. As BB said, these lights are switched off more often than on. When they are switched on, believe it or not, I reckon that 95% of traffic does stop at the red lights.oakdale160 wrote:There is a 'on-request' traffic light at BKK Hospital--MUCH MUCH MUCH more need at MV
I passed the crossing at MV earlier this afternoon after todays accident, and saw the emergency teams with someone directing traffic. AS BB said earlier, when someone does stop to let pedestrians cross, some idiot rushes past on the inside, and not just motorbikes.
