The latest from the media (within the last hour):

"More bombs in Hua Hin, elsewhere"

"Municipality police chief, Pol Col Sutthichai Srisopacharoenrat, said the som tam food-cart operator in front of the beer bar was close to the first blast and badly wounded. She died of her wounds after she was rushed to hospital.

"Of the 19 [wounded], three are in serious condition and seven of the injured are foreigners – four women and three men", said Pol Col Sutthichai.

Two of the foreigners were reported by hospital officials to be British, while the nationalities of five others were unknown.

The toll could have been much higher. Bomb shrapnel gathered as evidence indicated the explosives were designed to kill and cause casualties"

"...Edwin Wiek, who has lived in Thailand for almost 30 years, said one bomb was near the London Bar, not far from the Hua Hin Beach.
He tweeted a photo of a planter that was blown apart in one of the blasts. ..."

God, I walked through the little lane at Starbucks at the clock tower and on to the temple at around 8.50am this morning.
Didn't hear the explosions as I was probably on the beach by then.

I would not suggest a holiday in Hua Hin for a while. Not only is the situation unstable but there is likely to be heavy security and disruptions for several days (if not weeks.) I live here and will not be going anywhere for a few days.

both you and I were very lucky indeed.i was asked if I could to go and check on some people who were staying in the Sand Inn.i stopped there for a while then was told the second bomb was near Johnny Walker Bar.so I walked back up Poolsuk, cut through the temple, turned right headed down to the soi near Lucky shot bar.cops had it blocked off.stood there for 5 minutes then 3 explosions minutes apart.i had to get back to my car.looked up towards the clock tower cops all over the place.it was so close to star bucks you better believe it.huge hole in the small shop next to it.

A bar manager I know tells me that they have been ordered closed and it may be Monday before they will be allowed to reopen. We'll have to wait and see how it really works out.

The plant pots may have been the ones outside Raintree Spa, there was always some there, also that is where the Somtam lady used to stand.
Such a shame she was a victim of terrorism when just trying to do her job, I understand that she was very popular with the girls from the nearby bars. RIP.
