Hua Hin Today is shit, the owner is a real estate owner and make his money with real estate and hotel adverts. You can understand what I mean !!!. His connections does not allow him to be independent. Unfortunately HH has not a newspaper like Pattaya and Phuket. This should change.oakdale160 wrote:patty has at least 2 english weekly newspaper and i think 2 english tv channels.#

[quote="StevePIraq"]Fact - Sangthai Seafood nearest to the jetty is no more, demolished and left as a demolition site, numerous other shops are closed and empty.
Sangthai decided to move some times ago, they are at Pranburi, I don't yet have the exact location.

When I say under construction, I mean the repair of the pier, and all of the new buildings going. I'm just assuming that is the start, and the rest will follow as the piers are cleared.StevePIraq wrote:Where about as I see nothing, there is the new jetty opposite Buffalo Bills plus a jetty at Kho Takiab, where else?Big Boy wrote:I think the 'new or expanded harbour' in Hua Hin has been under construction for a long time now.

Re: Tough action against Hua Hin beach encroachers
They did great business, they had a large parking area in front which none of the others do.
Re: Tough action against Hua Hin beach encroachers
I drove by earlier and noticed the vacant plot where the restaurant was and 2/3 shops seemingly empty. Apart from that, it seemed business as normal.
I wonder how long all the appeals will take to be heard?
The report states that 6 hotels have also encroached on public land, I wonder who they are?
Thailand really is an arse about face Country. Most places would have simple procedures in place to ensure that any proposed building didn't encroach on public land before building, rather than have all the hassle of dealing with the problem after it's identified. On saying that, as far as I understand and I stand to be corrected, but it wasn't until 1954 that such designations were made, meaning that many family's that had occupied land for generations suddenly fell foul of such rules through no fault of their own. I guess that for some, that's what has happened here?

Haven't the 'Sea Gypsies' recently won a case against land owners over their right to remain on the land they've occupied for generations. They were able to prove that they were there long before 'chanods' were issued.

There are actually a number of empty shops now all the way along the strip right to the Chinese temple, in fact three just before the temple down that small soi.
My earlier point is if they are going to be demolished and the land rehabilitated even just as a beach area then it needs to be done quickly or the place will look an absolute mess for years just as it is by the new jetty where one has to walk through the new construction area to get to the jetty. Absolutely no planning.

I had lunch at one of the restaurants down there today, it was very pleasant; nice view, light wind and good food. It will be a very great shame if this area which is one of the very few examples still in existence of what was one of the prettiest little towns in South East Asia back in 1987 when I first started coming here.
I sincerely hope that some compromise may still be found in the balance between the authorities understandable concerns for safety and of beach encroachment and the unique heritage of this area without which Hua Hin will be come a far less attractive resort for visitors of all types. Tour Operators will also be less inclined to offer Hua Hin as there is a constant demand for resorts with contrast and culure to differentiate them from the rest of the mass market.

Re: Demolition of restaurants + shops in Poon Suk road
Slightly off the subject of Poon Suk, but does anyone know what is happening to 'Harbour 55' the development between what was the "Sangthai Restaurant" and the renovated fishing pier opposite 'Buffalo Bills' looks like there has been no ongoing construction there for months. Maybe another half completed construction job that will be left to rot.
Demolition of sea-side restaurants (near pier) Naresdamri-Alley
it seems to be demolition-time all over Hua Hin:
all buidings and restaurants in that marked area are going to be demolished
all buidings and restaurants in that marked area are going to be demolished
take it easy

Hua Hin central is beginning to look very unattractive, to be honest. Very sad.

When I lived in BKK I came to HH about 4 timesa year fora long w'end. A highlight was eating on the piers, dining and looking at the ocean. It is strange that when you live here it is not such a thrill. There are many residents who never eat there or though they live in a beach town, for which you pay a big premium, never visit the beach, but for visitors it is a huge attraction. Look at the tour busses dropping hundreds of customers at the pier restaurants-- its a big source of employment and income.

Re: Tough action against Hua Hin beach encroachers/demolition of pier restaurants
Hi, Any update as to what is going on here? Are the piers still there or have they been demolished?
The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

Piers are still there and open for business. Many shops in between closed, some open.Kraka's Dad wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 10:18 pm Hi, Any update as to what is going on here? Are the piers still there or have they been demolished?
