CHUMPHON: Fourteen big rubber pipes, measuring 154 metres in length overall, found washed up on a tourist beach on Monday morning remained unclaimed on Tuesday.
Boonsong Jaruek, Moo 5 village headman in tambon Pak Klong Pathiu, said the pipes washed ashore on Bang Bert beach.
There were 14 altogether, each 11 metres long and 80 centimetres in diameter. They had labelling in English, along with the logo "Oil & Marine" and "manuli". There was a black tar-like coating on the inside of the pipes, Mr Boonsong said.
Local fishermen had reported seeing the pipes floating offshore recently.
Pathiu district chief Thanon Panpeepas said the beach was popular with tourists, and speculated the pipes might have come from a petroleum production rig in the Gulf of Thailand.
Hey Migrant and Buksida, I thought you guys were keeping the beach clean.
They look more like oil tanker shipping loading and discharge hoses to me.

Interesting, also very similar to pipes used on dredgers pumping sand near shore,,,,too on land for caisson or pier construction.

That is no pipe at all. It is an offloading hose for crude oil made of rubber. Similar to the one we have, but our is on a reel. the one washed up on the beach here was probably floating which is quite normal, and came loose.

There are only a few manufacturers of this specialist hose & they are all serial numbered, tested & certified. Not difficult to find who bought them....so any conclusion/follow-up?
