BANGKOK — A Buddhist village leader was beheaded in the southern Thai province of Narathiwat, apparently in revenge for the deaths of about 90 people, many of them Muslims, in a recent riot in the province, local police said Tuesday.
The severed head of Run Tule, 58, deputy chief of the Sukhirin district's Ai-mamong village, was discovered Tuesday morning on a roadside in Ai-yari village, about 4 kilometers from his house. His body was found in the village of Ai-pulong, 2 to 3 km from where his head was found, the police said. (Kyodo News)
