You'd probably be better off getting a taxi. When you get there, just before dusk, you sit on somebody's roof to watch the spectacle - nothing special apart from the sight of 2 million bats flying out of the cave, which is actually amazing. When we went, we were the only ones there. The owner of the house will hold his hand out for a tip as you leave (I think we gave 100 Baht each).

 Actually, without GPS it is very hard to find. My GPS took me across a dirt track through the middle of a field. This was particularly spectacular on the way home, when it was dark. Bats everywhere swooping down grabbing the bugs in my headlights. A shame I didn't have a dashcam back then - it would have been a great movie.

Went this evening. Easy to find the place with the coordinates given in this thread. Stunning to see so many bats streaming out of the cave for 10-15 minutes. and making patterns flying around in the sky. Is it really 2 million? I can believe it.

I'd gone there impressed with the idea that the owner of the 'viewing platform' was philanthropic (or looking to help his karma) and so didn't charge to sit on his roof (there are no services, it's just somewhere to sit), so I was ready to give 100 baht to the guy. But although the big sign saying 'free' is still up, now there is also a handwritten sign saying 20 baht per person, so I stuck to that.

I can't see any coordinates. Were they removed? If so, can someone re-post them?

Yes, please, repeat the coordinates. Want to show this for kids. After we saw the flying foxes leaving their trees in sunset in Australia, they will surely love it, too.
Is umbrellar the must? ;) it saved us in Australia from droppings ))

"Khao Nang Bat Cave Cha Am
Appx 44,5 km from the main traffic lights in Hua Hin

N 12⁰ 52’22.5
E 099⁰56’22,4

The co-ordinates will bring you right in front of a house with at viewer-platform from where you can observe the multi millions of bats flying out for their nightly hunt."

Acknowledge BB for the info.

You've just hit on one of my pet hates. We live in Hua (Hooa) Hin which means Head Rock, not Wa hin.

I made similar noises to 102.5 and I've noticed that since then the adverts are for Hua Hin. Before every advert was for Wa Hin.

Anyway, back to topic.

I'm sure it was just a typing error, I was just winding the OP up. With my auto correct Hua often comes up as "Whore", maybe I use that word a lot so it seems like a good alternative.
