Outdoor furniture, pot & plants retailers in Cha-am?

Post by MorSage »

Hi, does anyone know any good place/s to purchase non-plastic outdoor furniture and pots / plants in the Cha-am vicinity. Rattan furniture and glazed pots are what I am really looking for along with some reasonably dense foliage plants 0.5 to 1.5m tall that do not need to be watered more than twice a week, can take afternoon sun and tolerate some salt exposure (<100m to sea).

Hi MorSage, yes can help.

Have just recently purchased several large plants from a garden centre between Palm hills and Chaam.

Guessing I would say the place is about a third of the way from PH to Chaam on the LHS going from PH to CA. There are several on this stretch but the one we used seemed the biggest and has a great range of plants plus a nice range of pots.

Big sign out front with PLANT SHOP and Landscape gardening in English. Couple of those plant Elephants out front also.

If you are traveling from CA do a U turn at the Dusitani "U-turn" or if you miss that Palm Hills.

Select what you want re plants and select pot, they will transplant plant to pot and deliver. Service same day, nice people and english speaking.

We got some beautiful palms, a couple of species. They look great and are quite mature.

Furniture, had lovely teak O/door set that required so much care ended up putting it in the store room.

Purchased from Beautiful world artificial rattan O/door setting. Looks great and so easy to maintain. Keep cushions inside when away, on return scrub the bird crap of the setting with hose and scrub brush and looks great again. Hard to tell its not the real thing and comfy too.

PM your email and I will send pix of all inc the sign board :D

Top Croc, thank you for the advice and tips. Did not know about the need for maintenance of teak outdoors or the durability of artificial rattan that I was suspicious of as believe that sun and most plastics tend not to go well together. The plant shop sounds great and I will check it out, cannot PM my email as I still have less than 10 posts, once again thank you very useful.

Top Croc,
I wasn't sure how to delete the photo only, so deleted the whole post.
Resubmit any information you wanted to give the OP in that post.

Yes teak - and other tropical hardwoods - can warp quite alarmingly - and impossible to flatten out again as the table tops in particular are usually very thick. They also get woodworm.
That artificial rattan is very popular now in the West - where it doesn't get the same exposure to strong sun. Looks very good - easy to clean etc - but I would expect it would fade easily over there - as indeed any material would. If you want a 'smart' look go for the articial rattan, but keep it out of strong sun. Otherwise the real thing is perfectly adapted to the climate - can be washed down easily, and any fading looks more natural. Any cane/rattan furniture benefits from a good soak now and then.
A sprout is for life - not just for Christmas.

Thank you for the information, it seems the question now is rattan or artificial rattan, the position of the furniture will only allow about 2+ hours/day of direct sun so seems the artificial is a possability as obviously is the real thing.
