Re: best way from hua hin to cha am
You can take a local red bus from Hua Hin ( Petchakasem Road near Polyclinic) to Cha Am, less than 30 Baht each way if I remember correctly.

Re: best way from hua hin to cha am
^ Don't worry about that in Hua Hin... being mostly a tourist destination, most Thais that you will deal (Tuk Tuk drivers, restaurant and bar workers, etc.) with will speak some English. Welcome to the forum by the way!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Re: best way from hua hin to cha am
when i was there in may, i used motorcycle taxis on a couple of occasions to get back to my friends house. he lives very close to the dusit thani hotel, and it cost me 200baht.
Re: best way from hua hin to cha am
Trains run fairly frequently between cha-am and hua hin take about 40 minutes and, on my last check (which was a good couple of years ago) prices range from 6bt, for a daytime train thru 26 baht for the last train at night.
If you decide to get the train, get on a motorcycle taxi to the beach, you can walk but it's far. Should cost about 20-30 bt each way.
Addtionally, air con minivans run from Hua Hin bus station every hour
(edit; just saw how old the original post was... oops!)

Where do I get a Sangthaew in Chaam for the return trip to Hua Hin?
Re: best way from hua hin to cha am
The songthaews don't run to Cha Am. They only go as far as the airport, heading north.
Re: best way from hua hin to cha am
If you need a taxi around Cha-Am try Anne the lady taxi driver ph 089 254 1644. She speaks English well and has a decent car.Charges around B400 to or from H.H /Cha-Am. My wife feels safer travelling alone with her as she is a female driver especially for the airport run.
Complexity is so simply overrated
Re: best way from hua hin to cha am
How far is it to ChaAm from the airport?
Re: best way from hua hin to cha am
A long way; you're not even half way there when you reach the airport
Re: best way from hua hin to cha am
Ms. Google Maps says 26.0 km from the airport and 32.7 from downtown Hua Hin. PetePhil D wrote:How far is it to ChaAm from the airport?

Re: best way from hua hin to cha am
Looks like sangthaew is not an option. If we go by train I get the impression that the train station is some way from the beach road. Is this correct. Presume Tuk Tuks would be around
Re: best way from hua hin to cha am
There's always plenty of taxis waiting at the station to meet every train. Getting back to the station again can be a problem though.

Re: best way from hua hin to cha am
Train would be OK if trains were on time, which hardly ever happens. So if you have to wait 40 minutes for the train, then spend another 40 minutes to get there (that is if you don't get stuck somewhere in between because engine has broken), so 1.5 hour just to travel 25 km, it just doesn't make sense.
