whats cha am like?

Post by lfc3acmilan3 »

when i go to thailand next year, ill probably stay in cha am, and get tuk tuks to HH for the nightlife. i just wondered what cha am is like in the day, is there much to do, and is the beach ok. also what are the bars like at night. i like quietish bars with not too pushy, average looking, low priced bar girls. my mates probably coming next year and he likes the full on party atmosphere, so hopefully it can cater for us both.

Use the search function for Cha Am. This has been discussed more times than I can count including one thread very recently.

Also check for messages at the top of the page.

Cha Am is tradditionally more aimed at Thais than Farang but things always change.

What is housing like in Cha-am? Is Cha-Am as over built and as overpriced as HH?

The vast influx of Norwegians seems to be mopping up most of the houses for sale in Cha Am.
Perhaps it will come to be called little Norway.

Cha Am always gets a bit of stick on this forum, is it really that bad? I mean are there things to do and places to go, eat and drink and be merry? What would a typicle day in Cha Am entail for a thirty-something expat? :thumb:

Compared to Hua Hin, Cha'am is the most boring place on earth. Sure, the beach is much nicer but besides that, I find that there is NOTHING to do in Cha'am.

There is no nightlife what-so-ever. It's full of 7/11's and tourist junkshops. If you want to go shopping for anything besides food/drinks, you have to go to Hua Hin.
Also, Cha'm is kinda all over the place. In Hua Hin, you can walk everywhere 'cause everything is fairly close by. But in Cha'am, there is no clear town center and everything is very spread out.
It's a small world after all...

Yes along with the Scots. I believe the next wave will be Afghanis and Iraqi's followed by Iranians.

I don't think they charge by age. A bicycle is about 100 Baht per hour so logicall a tricycle would be 150 Baht but I have never seen one that is not a samlor.

I don't understand why you're "located" in Cha-am?

Unless you're a Masochist! :D
