So if LA'N is feeling like an 'outsider' is it more to do with a general cliqueness (for want of a better word) which seems to separate people who live, or have lived in, the HH area from those who have never been there? And to be honest which maybe separates HuaHinians from Cha-Amians?
I always think of Cha-Am like I do Berkeley, California. With a couple of exceptions, everyone I've met that lives there could have directly been transplanted from Berkeley.

There isn't really a gap between the two - it's about a mile south of Market Village; carry straight on (or fork left, depending how you look at it!) instead of following the road over the flyover toward Pranburi.
Alternatively, you can join the beach at The Sofitel and walk south to Monkey Mountain (Khao Takiab) in 1 hour 15 mins.
At least that's how long it took me this morning. I must be getting fitter.

Lomu, that depends on how many beers you stop for on the way down, that said, I must admit I did enjoy a few good walks down to the cafes under the Buddah and then the green pick up taxi on the way back.

we are talking a very lo-o-o-ng walk from C.A and a very lo-o-o-o-o-ng walk back if you want to make it on foot.
Better to walk up to the see yak yai intersection and catch one of the old orange rattlers down to downtown Hua Hin first and then down along the beach.
