Anyone got experiance from Sports Villa?

Post by SweRob »

Hey all.

Anyone here stayed at Sports Villa? Their website aint that well developed (to say the least) so its hard to get a impression of what its like.

Any experiances you can share of this place would be greatly apriciated.

Big pool is a plus even if sometimes crowded, residents pool a bonus, good connections to city with songtaw, restaurant quite OK. Net connections in restaurant OK. This info was valid some months ago.

This info is valid forever:

Do not, I repeat: do not rent any apartment connected to the south wall.

Read the above again.

What is up with the south wall may I ask?

I stayed a few years ago for a month and most recently for a week. Yes, not a bad place and quite handy to town.

Not sure about the south wall, but a room facing the railway track could be a bit noisy. Check also the noise level of the aircon as the one in the room we had sounded like a jet plane taking off. In the morning I asked for another room and they were happy to change.

As an aside, last time I arrived at Sports Villa quite late, I'd arranged for a key to be left with the guard who let me in. They were quite trusting, it was about 3 days before I suggested to them that maybe I should pay them some money for my stay and did they want my details etc?

I've visited friends when they've been staying there and whilst it's not new, it seemed a reasonable deal considering the rates.

Have stayed there on numerous occosions, Rooms are quite spacious but the quality of fittings do vary from room to room. It's pot luck on what you get.
Pool is large but does get quite crowded by guests and also school kids who drop in for a swim after school.
Food is O.K from the restaurant. Motorbike taxi to town, easy to get all day.

I got these prices from Sports Villa.
1.Standard room : located on 1st floor to 4th floor with regular furnished.
Monthly rate is 8,000.- baht.
2.Deluxe room : located on 5th floor to 7th floor with newly furnished.
Monthly rate is 9,000.- baht.
3.Seaview room : similar to deluxe room but it provides ocean views.
Monthly rate is 10,000.- baht.
I sent a email back to ask if TV, Refrigirator and Internet connection are included in those prices or not.

Also asked if theres no discount for a six month or longer stay, but no reply yet...

I have a place on the south side ..it gets warm but ac takes care of it ...you get the sun but all rooms have AC. Depending on which side you are on you can get free city wide internet or pay for Sunshine both slow but quite sufficient for email. Some rooms have been redone and are very nice some are just plain ...you get a bed refridgerator aircon and batthroom in all rooms. Most rooms are just cable tv so lots of Thai channels and a few english .Restaurant is very good, pools are busy on weekend and holidays, there is a laundry on site. A few restaurants nearby and shopping for basics close.Good transport available to downtown ,tuk tuk at the front and buses and songtaus pass by regularly.Beach is a block away ....pay internet available in the lobby...for 8 to 10000 baht a month it`s a good deal you can also get townhouses out back 2 bedroom full kitchen etc I think around 15000 baht a month

Hi Rob, you might want to look at the new building no.3 at 'Hua Hin Residence', just off Soi 88 behind Family Mart, a mate had a room there before and it was excellent value imo. Basic, but clean and has just about everything you need. It's not actually finished yet, will be a couple of months I think. Their rooms are usually a decent enough size, basic furniture, A/C, fridge, TV/cable (think that or fridge is 500 Baht extra), hot water shower and balcony. The new block is side on (parallel) with the sea, so half the rooms will have sea view and they usually have big sets of sliding windows, so should have a nice outlook. Good security, card access, lift, room phone to call down to the little shop for beers, kaow-pat, pat-krapow for 20B etc. WiFi internet you can buy vouchers for, but quite slow, 3G reception is good in there though.

They are typically Thai places though so you can get some noise, some wicked fights and sex going on from time to time that you just have to listen and imagine what's going on. So it's really a nightowls place if you're a light sleeper or need peace & quiet it may not be the best place. Better women than Bintabaht by a mile :D

Rooms are usually 4,500 or 5,000B/month, plus that 500B fridge/TV, plus electric.

10K pm I believe
8K pm (low season) below level 3 I believe

I moved from a studio to a larger (privately farang owned) cos I heard they were going to jack the rates up 30%. so not sure now

All furnished (some better than others) but they do rip for Elec and water

Gotta be plenty of spare units so worth walking in and ask to speak to the manager. Nice guy and speaks English
