Anyone got any news on the Marriot?

Has it re-opened yet?

Been told it's going up market and will be the French chain 'Le Meridian' (sp)

Building work began a few weeks ago or should I say demolitions....Don't hold your breath just yet.

Was talking to a couple who were regulars there..according to them the hotel is staying up, & is having a proper refurb throughout..inc each bedroom (not just the public areas) As for it's future, or new ownership, that I do not know..??

I looked over as I drove past a couple of weeks ago, and it looked more like demolition rather than refurb. The top floor honestly looked as though it had been subjected to a wrecking ball.
