Post by Pagey »

Just for info : I Just walked past Marriott Hotel on Petcha which now has a big banner outside thanking its customers stating it is now permanently closed and to contact it's team at the Antantara I think it was.

They only leased the Courtyard in Cha'am. The owner lives in Canada and was awkward right from the start causing all sorts of problems when Courtyard were doing the re-furb. The same person owns some of the other hotels in Hua Hin

Minor Hotel Group’s bid to extend the lease on the Hua Hin Marriott Resort and Spa property failed after the land owner accepted an offer from beer tycoon, Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, according to a report in Thanonline last week.

The online Thai language business newspaper said the hotel closed 16 June after TCC Land Company Limited acquired the property.

The hotel will undergo renovations, but no details were given on the branding of the property, although Thanonline conjectured it would be managed by an international chain.

The 219 room Hua Hin Marriott Resort and Spa is located on Phetkasem Road, Hua Hin Beach in Prachuap Khiri Khan. It has been open for 27 years, as the Royal Garden Resort and later as the Hua Hin Marriot Resort and Spa. Royal Garden Resort Company’s owner, William Heinecke, developed the property and placed it under the Minor Group that subsequently managed his extensive hotel acquisitions.

Minor Hotel Group continues to operate Anantara Hua Hin Resort and Spa.

Thanonline quoted Minor Hotel Group chief executive officer, Dillip Rajakarier as saying it was sad to lose hotel as its one of the group’s most successful properties. Alternative employment was offered to 180 staff once the lease ended.

Regionally, Minor Group will focus on the Indian Ocean Australia and the Middle East.

Only stayed there once (last year) and have to say that, apart from some of the food and the location, was not impressed. The whole placed was looking tired and well past its sell by date; we had a ground floor garden room by the pool, that was extremely dark and quite noisy (I know, what do you expect being around a pool  ) and definitely was in need of a major refurb. Having said that, the staff were very friendly and helpful, so hopefully theu will have been taken care of.

That's a pity, the wife and I liked to eat in the Italian restaurant, I will have to break this news to her gently.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.
