Looking for Thai style resort in or near Hua Hin

Post by Steve RG »

Hi,
I've been in Thai resorts in Suan Peung, Khao Yai, Kanchanaburi, Cha-am, and I'm looking for a similar place in Hua Hin.

Ideally it should have:
- a good restaurant (Thai food only is ok)
- a swimming pool and a garden (for the romantic setting)
- rooms for rent (preferably bungalows)
- a car park

I'm not looking for a high end hotel, but rather the kind of laid back place where you can pop in without booking, order a meal while the kids enjoy a swim, then spend the night there if you decide so.

Your recommendations would be most appreciated, thanks in advance!

what is your nightly budget for the room?

do you have Agoda app? great for research and/or booking. many photos and REAL reviews. i use it all the time. also built in GPS mapping with directions to hotel.

James, thanks for your reply. I've already browsed a few booking sites but for the kind of place I have in mind I thought I would rely more on people's experience.

I'm not looking for something cheap, but usually these resorts are not expensive, in the 800-1,200 range I would say. But it's ok if it's a bit more than that.

You could look at Kor Sor Resort. Nice restaurant in nice setting but I've never stayed overnight.

^^Good idea to check this out. I've never stayed there either, but I've eaten there a few times. It's a lovely spot, mostly Thai food, mostly Thai customers. Not near the beach if that's important. Not cheap. http://www.korsorhuahin.com/

You're more likely to find the sort of thing you're looking for out of HH. Try Cha-am (north) and Pranburi/PakNamPran (south).

You don't understand the meaning Thai style in regards to a resort, home, area...? You need to get out of your hole a little more.

+++ for Kor Sor... never stayed there but have been there to eat many times. Great restaurant and beautiful grounds.

Thank you all. Kor Sor looks like an amazing place for a special occasion!

Deep Blue I can give you a few examples but I'm not sure if I can put links on here. On Facebook check "Cha-am Green Resort" for instance.

Anyway I did some digging and found Sea Jays looks like the kind of place I'm looking for. Anyone been there or would have similar recommendations?

Google shows two locations for Sea Jays, one at the airport  and one pretty far out west. I guess the airport location is a booking desk for arriving flights. :?

Have a look at Baan Duangkaew Resort, in Takiap. I stayed there years ago and I thought it was great. Individual 'Thai Style' chalets scattered around two pools. A few minutes walk to the sea but a car might be needed. On saying that, the whole area is much more developed than when I stayed there. Cicada market is at the end of the road. You can find it under 'mid-range accommodation' on the right hand menu.

Trip Advisor #1 of 132 in Hua Hin, rates from about $50 a night, can't complain at that
