I have heard the term 'building permit' bandied around a bit in various discussions on property here and on Thai Visa. Can anyone shed light on the technical and legal process involved in building a house - or any other building for that matter? Presumably you can't just obtain some land and plonk a house on it when and how you please.
No need to discuss routes to 'ownership' of land for foreigners as it's already been done to death - just the process of getting consent for building from, presumably, the local government office and the constraints involved.
