Yes, I can't remember exactly which year we bought it but it was about seven years or so ago and as you say, prices have changed a lot since then.
As was pointed out above, I find there is often a bit of a breeze to keep the heat down.

As mentioned already - rent something for a while and have a good look around. My favorite area is Dolphin Bay, even if it is not really close to Hua Hin.....
