Is water supply still a problem for South of Hua Hin?

Post by OrchidClock »

I find this message posted in 2008.

"For the past three weeks at least we have had no water supply on soi 126 and beleive that that is the case in most of Hua-Hin. We understand that the Pranburi Dam have said that they will no longer supply Hua-Hin with water, but no more information is forthcoming. Does anybody have any information as to what is happening?"

I also find one Condo project on sale in Khao Tao introduces like that:

"Water Supply - Dedicated water pipeline from municipal water supply main line plus 2 on-site deep wells to provide backup supply."

May I ask water shortage is common problem for south of Hua Hin and happened every year? And bigger project usually can solve this problem better, as they have bigger water tank and own well?

Thanks!

I don't live permanently in HH so there are probably others that have better knowledge of the situation, but here is my experience.

We stayed whole February in a house in the soi 112/114 area. We had a tank of maybe 2 m3 that was refilled from municipal water pipes. In this month we had one disruption in delivery long enough that we drained the thank. For the rest of the time everything worked fine. When we asked about the problem, we got an answer like "this time of year whole HH low water"... So I guess it still can be a problem.

However, we had no problem ordering a water truck to fill our tank when it got empty. I don't know if it can get so low on water that you cant even order a water truck.

I live between 114 and 116. In the nine years I have been here, I have never had a problem with the water supply. (although I do have a 25,000 litre underground tank.) A few year ago when we got notification of a cut-off for 3 days, I didn't even know.

As far as the Pranburi situation goes, if you look at the reservoir by the fly-over, when it's low you can see it being pumped in. As far as I know, that is coming from the Pranburi reservoir. Just now you will see it being refilled/supplemented.

We have friends who live further South who regularly complain about the water supply, or lack of it.

Ive just seen this thread so a bit late in responding however there are still significant water supply problems from Hua Hin water. We are down at Soi 156 and most of my neighbours are reliant on bought in water trucks. In fact for some of the properties around here the Problem has been there for 5 years! Apparently the situation is getting worse which is no surprise if you see the continued development of Hua Hin..........
