Sorry, I've been here too long... I see a price and think baht now!

It would cost me 9k baht just to air condition it!

I like this, blends in a little better than rows of sterile pool villas in those farang ghettos dotted all over Hua Hin.

Stayed in something similar when I lived in Oz:

Would seriously consider building a couple of these as holiday rentals if it wasn't for the lack of security and the amount of kamoys around.

Here is another gallery of the construction: http://sftimes.co/?id=231

Seriously thinking of building one of these myself!

Well, this building is quite attractive to me. I would consider if I would like to have a vacation house. But what is the major purpose to use this shelter? I couldn't imagine how its shut the main entrance and the huge open windows? My family has a piece of land in the North, in Nan provine and we were discussing to build a unique and feature building on the land. Our idea is to build a small resort, and its should be attractive to Thais tourist.

Anyway, it looks good.

Funny you should say that Pacman. I stumbled across a resort near Puk Tien yesterday on the way home from Petchaburi, where they also have similar unusual buildings for guests to stay.

It might be worth you taking a look.

Here's another that looks not expensive to build. This house really exists somewhere here in Thailand (I think), but I can find no detailed info. Below is the Thai site where the photo was taken from. Pete

One thing for sure on that photo from May 13, you want to point that roof facing north or east and nothing else, otherwise you'll cook in there.

There are clues it is in Thailand: tile roof on neighbor house is same as Thai tiles. I see a TRUE satellite dish on the same house. Broad leaf Thai spider grass (as I call it) on the lawns. The photo originated from a Thai wallpaper company. I think 99% sure it exists here in Thailand somewhere. Pete

EDIT: That roof would be perfect for some solar panels as well. If I ever get a small lot up at Khao Yai or similar in the cool country side, that style house could be my choice for a weekend retreat.
