Sewage treatment in Hua Hin

Post by 12sid »

Does Hua Hin have a municipal sewage treatment plant or do all houses have septic tanks? If the latter is the case, I would appreciate opinions regarding same as to how effective septic systems are and what problems they have. Thank you. Sid

There are shallow sewers downtown, but I don't know about a treatment plant. Raw sewage used to be dumped from a pipe into the ocean years ago just north of downtown. As far as houses away from downtown go, they all have septic tanks as far as I know; at least the one we owned did and the two rentals we lived in did. I never encountered any problems with them other than having to have them pumped out about once a year as there was no place for the sewage to go. They don't seem to know how to construct leach fields or drain fields there.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I suspect most houses will have septic tanks. I have to confess that I find septic tanks interesting , sad but true. They will work very efficiently if the bacteria in them are left to do the job . Resist the temptation to clean the WC's with bleach and other strong chemicals and also only flush down the toilet those things toilets were designed for. Don't get them emptied too often and when it is eventually done ask the operators not to drain it completely ie leave some of the bacteria in.

I have 6 tanks around the house (3 x 2 where they act in pairs). When new, they did need emptying after around a year. Now they seem to last forever so I guess there's good active bacteria doing the job. It seems logical that when they're emptied, some should be left behind to carry on the good work!

For those still interested in the original question - there IS a Sewage Treatment Plant in Hua Hin - It’s on Neabkehardt Road just North of Soi 53 intersection on the West side.
