I would not contribute to this topic if I had no experience. I was a Marine Engineer for many years, I've repaired and refurbished plenty of pumps in my career.Nereus wrote:I do not need to use Google for knowledge like this, I just base it on 50 years af actual hands on practice.
Since pool pump manufacturers place their maintenance and troubleshooting manuals online, they are accessible to everyone. While your 50 years is certainly impressive, manufacturers encapsulate the combined knowledge and experience of hundreds of engineers.

Yes, something seems strange there. Ours is also around 9 but we run 2 aircons all day and 3 at night, washer, clothes dryer sometimes, 3 pumps (house, bore, garden), electric oven about once a week, a few big screen TV's, 2 security floodlights at night, pool and a fan here and there.JimmyGreaves wrote:F in hell is someone tapping your juice?deepdown wrote:8000 - 9000bt per month ! 10 x 5 Pool,1 Air-con on during the night, washing machine on everyday, fan on in daytime.Siani wrote:Can anyone tell me (approx) how much their average monthly electric bill is please? Are you getting your bill from the electric company deepdown, or the developer? Pete

Re: What is your average electricity bill?
It never hurts Deepdown to switch off your house main breaker, and your pool breaker if separate from the house control box, and go see if your meter is still running. At least you'll be sure. Pete

Thanks Pete ,will certainly try that first.
Re: What is your average electricity bill?
Mine is 3500-4000. No pool but I run the AC 24/7. Usually only one AC, sometimes two. A fan (on top of the AC) sometimes. Lots of computer time.
Re: What is your average electricity bill?
Mine is about 2,800 per month for a similar load to what you mention. This is direct from the Provincial Electric "Authority", which appears to charge 3.63 Baht per unit, plus VAT at 7%.
Re: What is your average electricity bill?
Here's the standard bill format I lifted off the internet. The second Baht figure in the subtotal box and corresponding percentage to the left can be the killer. It's a fuel surcharge, but perhaps described officially by other wording. I think it changes every month. Pete

Re: What is your average electricity bill?
That's helpful to see, because I have been concerned that mine has been overcharged, but in fact is the same rate. I can see that the .9255 surcharge is the amount in Baht charged for each unit (648 in your example).prcscct wrote:The second Baht figure in the subtotal box and corresponding percentage to the left can be the killer. When I first moved here, I had difficulty getting a straight reply from the woman at the PEA. She said that my rate was for a higher-power supply. I thought this was a bit silly because the supply is actually quite rubbish. It is 3-phase power, and yet when the air-cons switch on, the lights go off momentarily. My UPS on my computer kicks-in too, meaning that the power is simply insufficient.
She said I could change to the low-power supply and pay a lower figure. The trouble was, I had insufficient information to be able to make an informed decision.
I was surprised on moving here, that my electricity bill was far greater than it was when living in UK.
Re: What is your average electricity bill?
Our normal bill is coming in around 3500 a month. We're running 2 ACs at most times of the day and night, no pool though. Washing machine runs pretty much daily, 2 computers on almost all day, and lots of TV/DVD time as well.

The bear
Are you actually using either a 3 phase supply or 3 phases zoned over the property? I know of very few domestic properties that use anything other than one phase and even less that use phase to phase 380v supply. The leccy people are ok if you talk to the right person and the girl on the counter does not cut it anymore than they would anywhere. simply not their job to know the technical side in a foreign language. Try your local PYB who will have someone who can help in most cases.

Re: What is your average electricity bill?
brcglobal is about right with no pool imo, 1500 baht a month for one air-con unit used fairly willy-nilly is fair enough, 500 baht for the rest.
Fairly reasonable average figures, I reckon.
Depends how many air-con units you are running. However many you are, then multiply by 1500 and I bet you are close, providing they are reasonable new units with the '12345' economy sticker on them and not some antique (which you still do get in some places) that resembles 1970s Russian units bought from Laos and sound like a tractor.................they still are around folks and if so in a place you are considering renting then can double+ the cost.
Best advice on renting if all seems OK is check how new the air-con units are......can make a massive difference to the bills.

Re: What is your average electricity bill?
I've switched out some Tranes for Daikins over the past year and we told the shop we didn't want those ugly 1-2-3-4-5 stickers on the units. They're unsightly. He was shocked He mentioned that the Thai buyers demand they are on there so people can see the household is environmentally conscience. Different strokes...
In addition, the noisy belching Tranes had a 5 rating, as do the Daikins with or without an inverter. However, with each switch out (3) our electric bill has dropped 500 Baht per month. Perhaps the scale should go to 6 or 7? Pete
EDIT: As a matter of fact, has anyone ever seen an aircon or fridge with a sticker of less than 5?

Re: What is your average electricity bill?
^ We have all (8) Daikins and they are good quality. I think our high bills are because of the 3 phase and a lot of water pumps (5) running a lot of the time. I don't think the aircon is more than half of our (now) average 7 or 8k per month. I've found that water pumps can burn a lot of electricity very fast.
