A good pedicure
A good pedicure
I am looking for a good pedicure.
And then I mean a real good one, not a girl who bought herself some stuff at the market or maybe Boots and call herself pedicure.
Been to a place and had to wait for a while, then a girl came in straight from her motorbike and sat dowm, without washing her hands first.
As a good pedicure should ask first if you are diabetic.
She didn't ask anything, she only said hello.
Then she started with a raizerblade taking of the hard skin of my feet.
( this is how I do it by myself at home)
At some places she took off too much and there where is was neccesary she didn't.
Result was that walking was a bit painfull for a little while.
She asked me if she should also put nailpolish on my nails.
I agreed with that.
When she was ready I had to pay 150 for the pedicure and an other 150 for the nailpolish (!!!)
I came home and took a good look at my nails.
OMG, nailpolish everywhere on my toes.
Couldn't see it properly at the shop whil my body was so stiff I couldn'd bend over to take a close look/.
So I went back, but the girl has already left.
I told the owner that it looks horrible, like a 5 year old child has done my nails..... and toe.
She took it of my nails and toe, which took quite a while because it was also on my cuticle.
What a disaester
And a embarressed thing was that she start talking to an other girl, pointing at the hard skin on the floor and then both start laughting.
Then a delivery guy came in and the same happened again.
300 bath gone, being embarressed, ugly feet and not able to walk normal.
So who can advise me a pedicure who is really good ?
Thanks in advise

Re: A good pedicure
I tried to find a podiarist in HH without sucess. I did go to have a pedicure in a hairdresser down near soi 112, it was cheap ..ok. Then I had one done opposite the Japaanese restaurant near the Sofitel. The girl was very good, changed the blade in the "slicer" and spent a long time getting each toe perfect. The polish at the end was also perfect. She did not wash my feet as I had a foot massage and she washed them before she did that. Yes, you have to careful if you are diabectic, I am, so say not too muchJohanna wrote:I am looking for a good pedicure.

Re: A good pedicure
It's really hit and miss and not just in HH. I still get pedicures when in the LOS but never let them cut my toe nails - too many cut way down the sides and draw blood. The fish spas are are good gentle alternative. Unfortunately they haven't taught the fish how to apply varnish yet!

Re: A good pedicure
I know - it took me a while to pluck up the courage to give it a try! But after a few tickly minutes you get used to it and it's very relaxing. I went back for more - a little place off Petkasem just past the Subhamitra Hotel. Very reasonable.Siani wrote:Mags, the thought of them nibbling away at my feet makes me feel ill! By the way if you don't mind me asking how much did the pedicurist near the Sofitel charge please?
And a PS kind of related to the topic. There's a little soi off Srasong Rd just close to the Pattaya minibus office and on the same side. It's a cul-de-sac that runs down to the side of the Subhamitra. If she is still there the hairdresser down there does really good facials. Takes forever of course but a nice lady and worth a try.

I think it was 300 baht, really can't remember...it was 150 baht I think for the foot massage.

I get my toes cleaned up across the road from All in Hua Hin. 10 baht per digit. I eschew the nail painting, though.

Thanks for the info Siani - an hour on the old feet is certainly worth 150. My podiatrist here in the UK is charging 28 quid now!

You must have a qualifying health problem then BB. Even my 86 year old Mum has to pay - although she might get partial help if she grovelled to her GP but you know how stubborn they can be at that age!Big Boy wrote:You pay? Yes, it's just usual bad service that often happens here. One can never just assume that the results of whatever service you procure are going to be satisfactory, because good results here are the exception, rather than the norm.Johanna wrote: Then a delivery guy came in and the same happened again.

However, I can recommend Dr. Cherdpong at Samitivej Hospital. I used to visit him there but eventually my hard skin cleared up. I find that I get best results myself by using sandpaper, washing with soap and water and then applying Eucerine PH5 cream (Watson's Pharmacy). Now they are very soft again and no hard skin.
The visit to Dr. Cherdpong used to cost around 1,200 Baht. Obviously he won't paint nails though, but this is a medical service as opposed to a backstreet nail painter, which is what you got in Hua Hin.
