Annoying Pidgeons.

Post by maccastime »

This topic has been discussed on here some time ago,i have had these annoying birds nesting on my roof for so long, droppings all over the place....
Well not any more.
Head to Market Village,go downstairs all the way to the new shops, look for the 60 bht cheap shop, called Maysies,up in the left corner you will find plastic black Crows....bought a few, took off the string, replaced with fishing line, strung a few up about my roof area...job done, best 60 bht i have spent.
All the houses here now have them, works a treat.

Are crows predatory? I would have thought an owl or hawk would be reaquired. Anyway, thanks for the info. Let us know if you are inundated by (real) crows in the near future... :D

I've got two owls and a hawk, one with a small solar panel that turns its head every few minutes. Regardless, the pigeons got used to them within a month and now they seem to come visit them as friends! :guns: Moving them to different places confuses the pigeons for about a day. :banghead: Pete

So far so good,a few of us here have had them in place for a few weeks,so far no pigeons, even the house next door has none now,as the one i have on my place scares them away.

You may be on to something. Who knows the true phobias of Thai pigeons? Crows may really scare them, and owls/hawks not. Give us an update down the road to see if they remain scared of them. Pete

Any chance of a picture of how you have placed them. I have a friend with a serious pidgeon problem. I get kingfishers, bee eaters, turtle doves and Asian magpies but I don't mind them except when the fledglings fall out of the nests and the dog wants to play with them so I have to run around trying to catch them.

The missus was going to Market Village today so she got two and I have hung them in mid air directly above our two cars that the sparrows and Mina birds like to crap on. So far so good, my wife has said as she was sitting on the porch that the sparrows headed in and made a U turn back out again.

These are plastic blow up crows btw, that's why they are so cheap. I already strung the entire underside of my carport with mesh to keep the birds from sitting/roosting on the rafters, but they still sit on the cars themselves and crap on them.

If this works, I am offering Maccastine an afternoon of all the beer he can drink. Just give me a couple of weeks to determine if indeed it does work and I will consider that a bargain!

Sounds good, will seek them out this week - we have a serious Myna bird problem.

Hey Buksida, maybe you can find a digital one to police this forum? There are several annoying types of posters that it may work on! :rasta:

Seems like even large predatory birds are so terrified of crows that they will do anything to stay on their good side... even giving them a ride!
