Voltage Stabilizer for Whole House

Post by SunandFun »

Due to the recent power surge that caused much damage to personal electrical items at Palm Hills recently, I have interest in a solution.

Does any one have a local or Thailand resource for a device that will protect the Entire house and all of it's electrical and electronic devices?

I have one of these in India and it is about 1.2 meter x .6 meter by .6 meter high. It is filled with oil and the main electrical lines feed into this before going to the switch box. I would prefer a more modern solution but one that has a reliable track record.

Thanks in advance.
I wouldn't have to manage my anger if people could learn to mange their stupidity!

Not sure if what you had in India is an actual voltage stabiliser, as there is no need for such an item to be oil cooled?
It may have been a tap changing type purloined from a former industrial user, which is just a transformer with a small motor driven "switch" that changes the internal connections to maintain a set voltage.

Modern types of this equipment is all solid state, but mostly designed for commercial use and therefore expensive. For a unit big enough for a complete house you could be looking at several thousand US Dollars. Smaller units for use on individual pieces of equipment may be a better option.

If you are brave and speak Thai you may find something at the following place that has just about everything electrical ever made, and some things yet to be invented anywhere else!

Just spent an hour and lost text I have 2 STAC units for sale that may solve your problems not the whole house, but sensitive electronic equipment.
