Okay - another question : Is it true that single farang women have NO chance to get a boyfriend?

As a young (28) farang lady who has lived in Thailand for 4 years I can honestly say that Thailand is one of the worst places for self - esteem for a woman (young or old). Firstly as a British size 10 - 12, i have resigned myself to being only able to purchase XXL clothes, with the sweet Thai sales barrage of "we have big size for you madam"! I don't know how the "large" ladies must feel!
Most farang men are here with their eyes and heads filled with the promise of Thai love - and yes I agree Thai women are alot less hassle to hook up with here - they all know the score. Farang man brings the money (not necessarily in a prostitution transaction) and Thai women knows what is expected of her.
I have my own business and direction for Life and that can be difficult if not down right challenging for male relationships.
Many of my fellow farang female friends here feel the same way.
However on the plus side the lack of male pre-occupation has lead to a very full and enriching life for me which is why I am still here 4 years on!

You only have to look at all the fine specimens of falang men with their beautiful Thai girlfriends to see the imbalance in falang land, why oh why does it take the clever eyes of a Thai woman to see beyond the outwardly low life, sickly old and decrepit or sweaty hairy and smelly exterior to the heart of gold (wallet) within of the average Falang man. If you are a low life poorly educated ugly and past it falang man just keep slagging Falang women but make sure there are no mirrors around and never ask your girlfriend to tell you what she really thinks. Roberto, I find your comments a little harsh. Why blame an aged man for coming to Thailand and wanting to have a life (love, sex) ? maybe back in his country women would laugh at him? or maybe he was scarred and decided to Flee?
You do not understand Thai women, they are not all about the "Looks", you could be the ugliest person on the Planet, if you are kind and Caring and treat them with Respect, they will give you their all.
Of course Financial security is a big factor in the equation.... nobody is kidding anybody here... but at the end of the Day, it's a Win-Win situation... where the "big old Sweaty Beer bellied old Farang" (according to you) gets his girl and the girl gets Financial support for her and her Family.
For a Thai, Family is EVERYTHING... they will not hesitate to make sacrifices to ensure the well being of their loved ones.

Only us Farangs judge a person by the way they look, Thai women have other priorities.

As for your question "Is it possible for a farang woman to have a relationship here?" Well, I guess it depends what you are looking for. I know quite a few women (farang) with long term relationships or marriages to Thai men. I don't personally know any farang women who are having a relationship with a farang man they met out here, but I'm sure there are some. I had a relationship with a Thai man for 3 years, which ended when he died just over 3 months ago. The relationship definitely had its ups & downs, but the downs were more due to personal problems than cultural ones & the ups were wonderful.
If you want a farang guy, then perhaps it's more difficult to meet one that would be interested in you than it would be in your own country, but I think most single women who come here would be aware of that fact. And anyway, would you want to go out with some ignoramus who would put down an entire gender of a race because some have big "asses"?!?

I have been here for almost 4 years, for the first 2 or so remained single. Then spent 1 year with a Thai girl. She is well educated, well mannered, self sufficient and very beautiful. Bottom line is that she was great - of course we had our little arguments, normally a communication problem (when a bloke says and hour you know its gonna be 2!). She never asked for money or did anything wrong. The reason it ended was because we shared no common interests or knowledge of the world, conversations were really just small talk, and thats not really her fault at all, its just that she didnt have access to all of the info we have in europe. Try to have a converstaion about how mad Mr Bush is - no chance. For me it will be tough to find a real lasting relationship here. BUT YOU NEVER KNOW!
