The lady asked me yesterday what "the lot " means
Well it means pretty much the same in Thai ตลอด All.

Anyone think of any others with the same sound and meaning?

Does not really sound same same to me: "the lot" versus "ta-lohrt".

And also "ta-lohrt" does not mean "all".

In every day conversation Thais may use "ta-lohrt" to shorten time indications like "ta-lohrt waylaah" (all the time, always) or "ta-lohrt pai" (contineously, forever) or "ta-lohrt keun" (all night long) etc. but never to refer to "all things" or "the whole bunch".

Sorry, do not have a Thai keyboard with this computer.

Its no wonder the Thais are struggling with the English language when you're teaching them colloquial British slang. Trust me "the lot" is slang. But of course, the British assume they invented the English language. Do your research, the English language was created from many different languages..

Dta lawt sounds the same as the lot when my lady says it and although I am no expert (trying to learn a little) I am told they can be used the same in some applications IE how many coconuts do you want? the lot please, dtalawt krap.

And I didnt teach her that one she got it in an email from a friend.

And by the way the origional was a question because I am interested not a request for criticism

The difference in transliteration, as per another post, make this language even more difficult

If you want the lot you should use tung mod or mod loei. Agree with Roel's explanation of dta-lort.
