wheelchair taxis

Post by albaker »

Welcome to Wheelchair Taxi Thailand, the first Hua Hin Taxi Service for disabled people, wheelchair users and their companions.

Found the above info from a disability forum and would like to know if any body has used them or if the company is up and running or even exists ?

The website gives no contact details and the only way to contact them is to make a booking , no payment requested , which I did 5 weeks ago and then 2 weeks ago , for trips in September 2011 andagain in February 2012 , to find out costs etc. and to date nothing .

Any and all info appreciated ,

thanks Alan

I'm not sure what it is you are looking for exactly, but when I googled the question, this video was offered

It is a standard songtaew of which there are dozens regularly doing the airport to Khao Takiab run.

Hi Alan - if the site you saw was a UK based disability one please post the details and I'll look into it. You won't be able to pm me yet due to not having enough posts - but if this is a scam it needs sorting.
Quite honestly I have never seen a vehicle in Thailand which has been adapted for wheelchair access. Although it would be feasible for a songtaew to be adapted quite easily with a ramp - so maybe I just haven't noticed any. Even if they do exist I doubt very much they will be equipped with suitable safety belts etc.

I just googled them and they have a new website

"Day trip duration 4 hours 1-3 persons 3500 baht"

Think I will stick with my friendly baht bus :)
My mind wandered and never came back :(

Hi Alan,

I just saw your question on this forum. I'm a wheelchair user and I have a wheelchair accessible van in Hua Hin. I'm the guy in the video of the songtheaw. In february I'm in Thailand, able to meet you and probably able to help. Please pm me for further information.

Regards, WheelchairThailand

That's the first time I looked at that video. Those telescopic ramps are a good idea and I imagine very useful anywhere here due to the general lack of handicap facilities. Pete

I wanted the post to be shown in the "ask the expats" forum but the powers that be decided differently.
Many thanks,
