Is there anywhere in the Hua Hin area that does First Aid Training please? If yes, can somebody please provide details?

You could ask at the Red Cross building next to the Tessabahn, Big Boy.

Another possibility is a certified diving school. I don`t know of one in Hua Hin however.

You may have to look at staying away a couple of days somewhere to do it. Phuket and Pattaya both have places.

or here: http://www.firstaidtrainingbangkok.com/contact

They have a course starting the end of this week.

Good idea - thank you.

Regarding the other venues - don't really want to travel, but accept it might be necessary.

I have asked this question on here before. No luck with answers. My wife called a couple of hospitals and asked them and she was told none are offered in hua hin. If you do find anything offered around town please let us know.

I would say it depends on exactly what you are looking for and to what level. The LHG looked into this in China a while back, and I also looked via Internet - basically there are several courses where training/education can be done online and practical and theory examinations taken at a designated site. Some "lower level courses" are purely online.

Yes, proper venues for training are very much needed. However, the mentality has to be there in the first place. I pity their passengers if they become ill on-board during a trip. Pete

A tour bus driver died after suffering a seizure at a Pattaya pool hall.

Police pronounced Chalit Aranchalathorn, 58, dead at the unnamed parlor located next to a tour bus parking lot on Soi Phettrakul in Naklua Sept. 5. Officers found no signs he was attacked.

Employee Saengdara Pinphetr, 43, said Chalit frequently stopped into the pool hall after dropping off tourists. Before he died, he’d been working on the bus and came into shower and rest. Suddenly, she said, he suffered some sort of seizure and collapse.

Other bus drivers, thinking the seizure might be contagious, fled, leaving the man on the floor to die. The body was transferred to Banglamung Hospital for autopsy.

Yes, that is a very valid point. If you are just wanting it for your own interest, or peace of mind, then a short course in the basics would suffice.

If you are wanting it for something other, such as to STCW95 / OPITO standards for employment, then you may be looking at forking out up to 20k or 30k Baht to do it at an approved and recognised training facility.

What about the local "rescue" services. They must have some training, possibly in house, or at a local hospital. They may be willing to do basic training for a small donation.

My son-in-law is a paramedic, but all of his training was carried out in Bangkok.

The training is not for me, it is for my son. He needs to have some basic first aid training.

I can train you to be an emergency first responder in first aid, secondary care, care for children and use of AED's. Any dive school can do the same. Costs around the 5- 6000 Baht and certifies you for two years. I'm coming up next month for a visit if anyone was interested.
if you are not that bothered about getting the certification I have some books and videos's you can have.
I never forget a face but in your case I'll make an exception!

I know that Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin might be able to set up a full-day course given that a certain number of people wanted to participate. They don't have any regular courses scheduled though, so you would need to contact them.

Cheers

Dates would be great. If you need to have a private course, I understand but most wives could use a little training. Let's make it happen.
