This doesn't sound like a one-off that should be ignored and while omeprazole or ranitidine (Zantac) may well help, there is a risk that they are only masking the symptoms of something else. Whether you are here for good or soon to be heading home, bad indigestion for over a week should be investigated further.

If you've been eating spicy food and washing it down with plenty of booze every night for the last week or so then you probably have your answer. If there's been no obvious lifestyle or environment change and it just started to happen, you may want to have it checked out.

Yes, and without wanting to be alarmist, I should point out that I had a heart attack aged 40. A locum GP diagnosed it as severe indigestion. And that's how it felt for a few days.
So you really shouldn't ignore this, particularly if you are very tired and have no energy.
Better safe than sorry!

Cheap and cheerful solution to indigestion is put a bit of toothpaste in your mouth and take a glug of water....slosh it around in your mouth like you would do with mouthwash and swallow.

Indigestion issue instantly gone. :thumb:

If you can find it in a pharmacy ,try omeprazole .prescription in the uk but ive been told you can buy it over the counter in Thailand. this will definitely stop your indigestion.

It works very well for me, but please heed dtaai-maai's warning. I was prescribed omeprazole after they previously thought I was having a heart attack. So the symptoms must be very similar.

Thank you for the concern everyone. I bought some meds and seem to have gotten over it.
I will go for a check-up anyway as I haven't been to a doctor for a while, except for my work permit certificate

You can purchase sachets of ginger from Makro/Tesco and various outlets, a wonderful natural cure for reflux/heartburn. Also packets of ginger sweets are readily available. No kickback unless you are allergic to ginger.
