Skin Rash: Looks like Posion Oak/Poison Ivy, need a clinic

Post by paul406 »

Hi

I have developed skin rash that looks the same as getting a case of poison oak or poison ivy.

In the past i have gotten an injection of Cortisone to help it dissipate rapidly.

I would appreciate any recommendations of a clinic in Hua Hin. Or is a hospital the place to go?

itchingly

Hi Paul, there used to be a good clinic here for everything (International Polyclinic), but they closed shortly after Bangkok Hospital opened up. The only clinics I know of now are specialty clinics like ENT, Cardiac, dental, etc. You may have to go to one of the hospitals. If you know what you need and are paying out of pocket the Hua Hin Government Hospital on north Phetkasem road may be your best option as you can pay a small (200 baht?) foreigner fee and jump the queue and just get your shot at a low cost. If you have insurance that covers hospital care here I would probably go to Bangkok Hospital on Phetkasem Road just south of Soi 94.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Hi HHfarang

yes, i remember the polyclinic, been there before.

Sounds like your advice on the Hua Hin Hospital is the best offer.

Yes, HH Hospital is probably your best bet, or else you can try Samet Clinic on the main road, more or less directly opposite Villa Market. It's actually a children's clinic but I've seen the doctor there a couple of times and he has always sorted me out, including one complaint that three different doctors in the UK and a hospital in Bangkok couldn't seem to get sorted.

Alternatively, pop into a local pharmacy because quite often they will know what to give you.

Thank you Takiap

i did not know about the Samet Clinic.

This morning i went to HH Hospital, paid the 200 baht for the Foreigner Customer Service. they escort you to the front of the que for the various departments.
I was in and out within an hour.
I received a check up with the doctor plus two types of cream, two types of pills, an injection of cortisone.
All for 607 baht.
hard to beat that..

let's see what progress is made in the next few days
