Where to get stitches, cheap & good
Where to get stitches, cheap & good
Good evening. My mate cut himself accidentally and needs a few stitches. He wont go to HH BKK hospital or any fancy expat clinic for fear of the cost & acting tough.
Anybody can recommend a local thai medic who can do a neat job for a few 100Bs?
I was thinking to ask around the muay thai gyms but it's too late tonight.
Appreciate any useful advice...
Thanks!

If you can find an all-night pharmacist, why don't you by some sutures, and some benzadine and do it yourself? Clean the wound thoroughly, and put as many sutures as you can to close the wound. I did it to hubby, and it healed up a treat.

I recently cut my toe on a piece of sharp tile in the bathroom and I went to Vejthani Hospital Bangkok (Lad Phrao/Bang Kapi area) to get it checked out by a Doctor.
I highly recommend for anyone staying in Bangkok not to use Vejthani Hospital, their prices are ridiculously high.

In the end I did it myself. Not sure I ever want to do this again.
Thanks all anyway

for small cuts Band-Aids can be very effective. Suturing approximates the edges of a cut, but nature does the healing. If it is on part of the skin that is very mobile, if you clean well with peroxide or Betadine then one person squeezes the tissue together while another applies the Band-aid you can get good closure in some cases.

tell him to get it seen to properly and claim on health insurance,
going without health insurance is only really advised for the 60+ age range that have plenty of money but where the annual costs are so high that its cheaper to just pay up when something happens

If you get a current account with KTB bank you get b10,000 insurance free, that should cover stitches at most hospitals, underwritten by BUPA

^ Interesting, any particular account you need to have? I assume it's a "one off" cover valid for 12 months?
