Russian tourists Alexei and Daria (names are not called) in Thailand's Pattaya was arrested for electronic cigarettes. This is reported by the portal MYSLO.
The incident occurred on the fifth day of a couple's holiday in the country on Sunday, September 17. During the walk, the girl took a cigarette from her bag when she was looking for something. Police officers drew attention to her, who searched Daria and Alexei. A man in his pocket found another similar device.

After that, tourists from Tula were taken to the police station, where they kept for a day and a half. They managed to get out on bail. As the travelers reported, this was all the money intended for rest. "In total, we will have to spend another 300 thousand rubles. On the lawyer, interpreter, housing and payment of a fine. Until the end of the tour we have a couple of days, then we will have to extend the visa. But how we do it is not known. Policemen have taken away our passport, "the tourists said.
After the incident, the couple wrote a letter to Biblio Globus, where they bought the ticket, but they were asked to provide documents that they did not have with tourists in Thailand to consider the claim. Alexei said that before the trip he specified from the company's employees the opportunity to use electronic cigarettes in the country and received an affirmative answer. "Parili" before the representatives of the tour operator, no one said a single word. We spent four days here, "he said.
Also, travelers lamented the inaction of Russian diplomats.
In mid-September, tour market experts recommended that Russian travelers refrain from importing and smoking in Thailand electronic cigarettes. It was specified that these gadgets are banned in the country, and for their use you can get a fine of one million baht (1.76 million rubles) or go to jail for up to 10 years.

Once high season arrives I can see this being the Holiday Season big money maker for the MIB. My feeling is that people will bring them regardless if they know about the law or not. Pete

Two nabbed on e-cigarette charges

Two suspects were arrested for allegedly selling online electronic cigarettes via Facebook in Khlong Luang district yesterday.

Police identified the pair as Sivanut Poonpol, 25, and his girlfriend, Natthanicha Duangthong, 23.

They were apprehended in a parking lot near the K12 building in tambon Khlong Song yesterday morning.

Authorities also confiscated 40 e-cigarettes and 3,500 bottles of vaping liquid valued at around two million baht in total.

All e-cigarettes and their paraphernalia were seized from the suspects' room and a warehouse in Soi Khlong Luang Muang Mai in the sub district. The duo allegedly confessed to police they sold e-cigarettes via two Facebook pages.

E-cigarettes were sold at 1,200-1,300 baht each and a bottle of vaping liquid for 550 baht each. The products were delivered to customers by private post free of charge. Most of their clients were high school and university students.
