Where to get insulin syringes

Post by m_right » Wed Nov 01, 2017 11:27 am

Can anyone recommend a pharmacy where they have purchased insulin syringes in Hua Hin? Costs? If not I will bring with me when I return.

Are you talking about the pre-loaded syringes, or the type where you put cartridges into them?

I would suggest that you go to the Express Clinic at Hua Hin Hospital, with evidence of your need. See a doctor, and get a proper prescription, which will be dispensed at the hospital pharmacy.

The pharmacy charges no more than any other pharmacy in town (the same can't be said for other hospitals). You will, of course, have to pay 200 Baht for the Express service, and probably a 350 Baht Nursing (Admin) fee.

Take an ice-bucket (+ ice pack) with you (if you don't have one, they will supply a small ice bucket plus ice at a small price) to transport the syringes. Because of the storage/transportation problems, I doubt you'll be able to buy from a regular pharmacy (I might be wrong on that one).

We have recently been through this with my brother. Transporting from the UK was just too involved/expensive i.e. the transportation packs were very expensive for what they were.

Regular syringes and needles are available from just about every pharmacy I've been to in Hua Hin. All sizes, from extremely small to very large, including the sizes of syringe and needles you mention. No prescription required. I've used plenty of them in caring for street dogs over the years, never had a problem buying them.

Are those just syringes/needles, or the kind pre-loaded with insulin, which need controlled storage/transportation? If the latter, it's well worth knowing, thank you.

Thanks.
Appreciate the response.
I will buy when I get back to Hua Hin.

Just ordinary syringes / needles, nothing pre-loaded in the ones I've purchased in numerous pharmacies in Hua Hin. I have no information about any syringes preloaded with insulin.
