I have followed the topic "Snakes in House & Garden" but I have a slightly different question. I read about many encounters with snakes in house, garden, etc. but I never hear about anyone actually being bitten by a snake. My questions are:
1) Does this happen very often?
2) If someone is bitten then which hospital in Hua Hin is most able to deal with this?
3) How much time do you have between being bitten and arriving at a hospital?

1. Not very often, but I don't have any statistics at hand. Just be mindful of areas they like to "hide" and should you spot one to leave them alone. Bites most of the times occur when people try to kill the snake or catch it without having the proper knowledge/training.
2. Snake Experts in town recommend Bangkok Hospital as they have the anti-venom available for all common venomous snakes in this area. Important to take a picture of the snake or remember what it looks like.
3. Strongly depends on the snake and how much venom it was able to inject. Most important stay calm and if you go directly to the hospital there is enough time. Mind that it is not the right time to go for a quick pint before seeing the doctor....
Hope this helps, there are some great webpages about snakes in Thailand and also following "Snake in Hua Hin" on Facebook (if you have) to further learn about our slithering fellow beings.
Cheers,
B.

Probably Hua Hin hospital has antivenin available, and possibly the Red Cross clinic, as I believe it's the Red Cross that produces the stuff.

You mean Red Cross in BKK right? Or is there one in HH? Red Cross in BKK is definitely where they produce antivenins. In HH I think BKK Hospital first stop and HH Hospital second, from everything I've read.hhinner wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2017 3:47 pm Probably Hua Hin hospital has antivenin available, and possibly the Red Cross clinic, as I believe it's the Red Cross that produces the stuff.

Red Cross in HH. Around the corner from the Tessabahn.

Yes. They certainly do rabies shots there (used to anyway) so possibly can treat snake bites too.HHTel wrote:Red Cross in HH. Around the corner from the Tessabahn.
