Another thing to watch out for with diclofenac is... if you are on blood pressure medication it interferes with the effectiveness of the bp meds ... my gp couldn't understand why my hypertension wasn't reducing after 3 months on bp meds... turns out it was the diclofenac. Stopped them and bp was normal(ish) in a fortnight

In early February I had atrocious pain in my left knee and after 2 days had to see a doctor, I was overseas at the time. I was quickly diagnosed with Septic Arthritis and it was the most painful thing I have ever experienced in my life.

The doc quickly took a blood sample, tested it and confirmed what it was, I ended up on a antibiotic drip for 3 hours plus a few injections. I was then given lots of medication followed by a course of 1 tablet a day for 6 months of Gevolox Plus 500mg to rebuild the cartilage.

Septic Arthritis is classed as a medical emergency as it can destroy a joint in a few days

Luckily I did not have to stay in hospital as where I was you would not wish that on anyone.

Glad to read a good news story! How's your treatment going after 3 months, any idea yet?

Gevolox Plus (Glucosamine sulphate + Condriton Sulphate) looks one up on Athril. I'm just really keen to know if any respected trials of any product have proven that regrowth of joint cartilage is possible inside the body where it's absent (bone is rubbing on bone). I have searched and found bits and pieces, but nothing that gives confidence. I read everywhere that cartilage can't regrow inside the body without some specialist surgery.

Then a hope story like this:

I have no idea if the cartilage is re-growing, how can one tell? All I know is that within a few days of first treatment things were getting better, it took a few weeks before I could walk unaided. Now after 3 months I have no problems at all, still on the meds for another three months.
In 2006 I had a meniscus tear of the same knee and this was fixed with surgery.

Sounds good.

I think the only way you could tell for sure if cartilage is regrowing would be before/after x-rays. I guess lessening pain and better mobility could otherwise just be due to reduced inflammation and pain. Just guessing.

If you're taking glucosamine and/or chondroitin make sure it's sulfate and NOT hydrochloride. Any other form won't be absorbed or effective. It can take at least 4 months before any cartilage growth can be measured. Enzymatic Therapy makes a powdered form, orange and unflavored, that is better absorbed than capsules or tablets and you only have to take one packet a day.
