Multivitamins, do they work?

Post by buksida »

Since embarking on my new fitness regime I've started taking these multivitamin tablets made by Centrum. The idea was to supplement stuff I may be missing through my diet (I don't eat much fruit).

Does any one use these or anything similar or more natural? Do they work or are they just an expensive gimmick latching on to the psychological neuroses of the weak minded?

Does it work

Post by Hublet »

While I try my hardest to avoid any and all, but One, forms of the E........ stuff
I have been taking Centrum for a while now and I must say it does help in metabolism and energy levels. It is not a gimmick but proven by many around the world. The same can not be said for all the herbal multi's as many of these have not been proven effective. However that is not to say they do not work. Try them for yourself. You have to give it a two week use before you see or feel any result however. Shop around for the best one for you.

Now that I'm fit and healthy (UUUGGGHHH) does that mean I can drink more?

Funny you should mention this, another side effect of being fitter is I now can only drink a beer or two before feeling a little mashed as opposed to the half case I used to get through to summon any effect.

I used to take them when I trained and played squash a lot in the UK. Also royal jelly (ex's father kept bees and swore by it). I reckon they helped. Don't take 'em now though and in this climate that's probably a mistake.

I have friend who are working in that business, selling health products.

She is always trying to make me eat multivitamins, after i've been spending a few months in Thailand. I guess she think i drink to much while
im in Thailand. And I probably do.

Anyway you have to eat them for at least 2-3 month for them to be
effectiv.
But they do you good my friend says. But then that is her job to tell people that.

They're fine if your diet is cr@p. If you're a Burger King & Beer guy, go for it!

But beware - some vitamins aren't secreted, they're stored in the liver, so you can get some problems. If you just take one a day, you should be fine, but don't try & overcompensate. Don't ever take more than recommended dose - some vitamins can be toxic, too!

I just loved that royal jelly.
When they come round with the honey in a whisky bottle here, I've got to ask myself am I safe?
Havn't drunk it yet, so I suppose so I am :thumb:

Yes, I'm using Centrum, and I think it is value for money. Don't forget that most vitamin packaging only have the minimum daily recommendation, you may need to supplement with others as need be.

As an example, if I get a cold, I'll buy a tube of Vitamin C and take an additional 2 grams per day, it really helps.

This is just mine opinion. Okey I didn,t read every posts from this topic but still I want to say that when you exericice it's really important that you get the vitamins. Like a B1, B6, B12 and if you wanna be a stronger then you slhoud use like B16. But now I talk about ampulls and if you you don't have any a experinece to use needeles, don't use it !!!!!!

Any way you can get a good results with out using any stereoids or nonting

But if you want to use. use B16...... Just stop smoking and about tree months non drinking and hard training and I promise that you are going to be in a really good conditon. Sorry about my english now, I have had a little bit fun, maybe too fun, I don'tt know.... ;)

If you want higher blood pressure, greater risk of cardiovascular disease or coronary artery disease, all with a blotchy looking face, then be my guest to use anabolic steroids.
If any of you remember Tamara Press, former Russsian discos champ. then you know what AS is able to do with your body.
You don't look very handsome when you get older using AS as a youngster.

I'm a real novice about this, but I thought there was a difference between the "B" vitamins and steroids. Or are they the same?
Sometimes I've taken "B" vitamin supplements. Other than making my piss smell, they certainly havn't raised any muscles!!!
Please, someone explain.

Lomu, they're completely different. Don't worry. The poster was saying that you get good results without having to use things like steroids. I think people should only be taking specific vitamins if they have a deficiency in their diets or a medical reason for it, though. A multivitamin a day, won't do any harm, but as I said before, some vitamins are stored in the liver if not used & build-up can prove toxic. So, specific ones should be taken under medical advice.

I use Injectable B vits once a week B2,B6,B12 within 30 mins i smell like a jar of marmite they are rather good for the neurological system you should try the Loumo instead of trying to extract them from chang beer.

As for the anobolics (Anabolic + Androgenic) certain types as prescribed for the correct reasons and usage are quite safe .

The nasty side effects come only with abuse such as

# For men — shrinking of the testicles, reduced sperm count, infertility, baldness, development of breasts, increased risk for prostate cancer.
# For women — growth of facial hair, male-pattern baldness, changes in or cessation of the menstrual cycle, enlargement of the clitoris, deepened voice.
# For adolescents — growth halted prematurely through premature skeletal maturation and accelerated puberty changes. This means that adolescents risk remaining short for the remainder of their lives if they take anabolic steroids before the typical adolescent growth spurt.

as well as aggression and other psychiatric side effects may result from abuse of anabolic steroids. Many users report feeling good about themselves while on anabolic steroids, but researchers report that extreme mood swings also can occur, including manic-like symptoms leading to violence. Depression often is seen when the drugs are stopped and may contribute to dependence on anabolic steroids. Researchers report also that users may suffer from paranoid jealousy, extreme irritability, delusions, and impaired judgment stemming from feelings of invincibility.
also enlarged heart and other enlarged organs
