Hi, I did the same move last year, if you want to PM me I'd be happy to give you benefit of my limited experience. Do you have a pet to bring?

First comment - you'll love the cost of things here. :D

I arranged my OA multiple reentry visa at the Thai embassy in Dubai. Had no problems with it since.
For removals I used AGS, not cheap but very professional. Jotun use them for all their relocations.

Moved here direct from Abu Dhabi and getting our OA Multiple visa was quite easy once you know all the paperwork required. However getting everything in order to get out of the UAE can be horrendous

There are just a lot of government hoops to jump through! Be careful to get the timing right for your pet export permit, pet jabs, etc. Dubai Kennels and Cattery are expert with advice and you can get the final health inspection done by a private vet who has the authority rather than a municipality inspector. I used the vet at Nad Al Sheba (that look after the falcons, horses, camels, lion cubs, etc for the locals). DK&C also have a vet here in Thailand they use for the import procedure which takes a load off (you need this paperwork too before you fly, again timing is crucial)

Thank you all for your advice, I intend to start processing in Oct, so will be in touch around then. I'm also after a moving company that will deliver to Hua hin from Dubai without the seals being broken. (not that I have anything to hide) just me. Cost no an issue.

When I moved from Abu Dhabi to Thailand back in 2011 I used Pickford at both ends and the service was first class. Not the cheapest (fortunately my Company were paying) but they were very professional and my goods arrived in HH without any interference and seals intact.

We've used Asian Tigers twice (once from Singapore to the UK and then from Singapore to Oman) and they were spot on both times :thumb:
